Hi Folks, well you know the old saying some folks trash is other folks treasure (or summit like that anyway!) well GAL now need your trash! As part of the Kennel Fund fundraising activities a few brave souls will be attending Car Boot sales on behalf of GAL over the next few months, we now need your unwanted rubbish to sell at the boot sales! We'll take anything as long as it's in reasonable condition and not too smelly! Please call the GAL info line on 0870 888 7277 or email david@gal.org.uk and we'll make arrangements to collect your unwanted items!


Additionally we need a few paste tables to help at the boot sales so if you have a couple lying around gathering dust we'll happily take them!..

I'm sure I have plenty of stuff that could be sold at a car boot sale. How about clothes and shoes? In good nick, just stuff I don't want/need any more.

I've got a greyhound story book i bought from the GAL stall 2 years ago at xmas, i can give that, u might be able to sell it again. Also have loads of cd's etc i could give.


How about dog stuff? like i have a spare greyhound collar and a spare greyhound coat which is practically brand new (not the one you just got me siouxie) LOL and loads of normal dogs collars?

I have an exercise bike. It is in really good condition as I'm not much of an exerciser other than dog walking LOL.Sit Up Can you take big things such as this? I have loads of other stuff too. Do you have an articulated lorry.Truck Driver 2

I've got a huge monitor under my desk that you can have, it's too heavy to post anywhere, but it works extremely well (when it was new, it was rediculously expensive. I didn't buy it new, obviously).

I've just been given a stack of jigsaws by a friend at work. I'm sure I'll be able to get all sorts of goodies out of them over the coming weeks.

Hi Fiona, nope, no time limit, the kennel fund will last for 3 years! We're looking at doing the car boot sales in the summer when the snow (hopefully) stops so plenty time....


For the folks that asked about larger items, the answer is YES we'll take em, if they are electrical however can you please check they work first!!..

funny you should bring up this topic.  i have the next week off work and had decided to sort out all my old paperbacks and empty the bookcase.  only prob is, how on earth do i get about 70 - 100 books to you????

Hi, Tree - you could post them by parcel post. It takes a fair few days longer than ordinary post and is a lot cheaper. Is that any use for you?

Or you could use Parcel2go.com, they're for anything up to 25 kg at one price. And they collect them.

I've probably got a load of stuff you can have for car booting. I'll let you know when I've sorted it out. Don't have much in the way of transport right now so might need someone to collect if possible. Would that be a problem?

i will look into the parcel post etc.  having sorted the books, i find i have 113 of them to dispose of so i think the postage costs might be a tad high!


i'm going to phone a local secondhand bookshop tomorrow to see if they want them.  some of these secondhand peeps actually pay for them.  if so, i'll donate whatever i get to GAL.

Calling Dave and all car booters!!

I'm sorting out stuff for selling and so far I have DVDs, videos, books, CDs, audio books, various knick-knacks.

Who wants it? And how will you get it? Us four should be at the walk on Sunday (barring the seemingly usual illnesses and accidents that befall the dogs whenever we plan to go to a GAL walk!!) so should we bring it with us then?

Hi Fiona (and everyone else) Car boot stuff and old coppers can be dropped off at the Edinburgh Walk this Sunday in Holyrood Park (just ask for Siouxsie and she'll sort you out!)

Dave i have a ton of stuff for a car boot sale that the kids have grown out of. (3 kids the shed looks like toys r us)


I was just going to go to a local car boot sale and sell it and give the cash to GAL rather than try and get it all to you. Is this ok or would you rather have it all so you can do it all together I don't mind (quite enjoyed doing a car boot sale last year). I know I won't have it all sorted out by Sunday.

Hi Landess - your the first person from through inthe East to volunteer to do a car boot sale - I've no problems you doing one, in fact if you want to take the stuff thats brought on Sunday please feel free to so it - we're getting lots of donations at the kennels for the Glasgow 'booters'...

Errrr slight problem with taking in stuff Dave I've nowhere to store it. How about I appeal for stuff nearer time and collect it all in nearer when i want to do the sale. But I will do one in the East no probs.

If anyone else is interested in doing a Car boot sale in the East, and the only thing putting you off is not having enough things to sell, then please get in touch siouxsie@gal.org.uk or even better if you are coming to the Holyrood Walk tomorrow then ask me then as folk will be donating goods tomorrow.

We've had a number of VERY successful car boot sales so far with lots more organised through the nice dry summer months. We're in the process of sorting out the loft, and also our eleven year old has decided he's all grown up so is emptying his room of anything remotely childish, so we should have a ton of stuff for a car boot sale very soon. Barrie's mum also wants her loft cleared out so we'll probably have 5 van loads of stuff by the end of the week!!! We were going to do our own car boot and give the proceeds to GAL but if there's one already happening maybe we can just come along and join in/help out? We can do East or West as we're pretty much in the middle.

Hi Jax, the next boot sale where volunteers are going is one in Edinburgh in July, Fiona (FAJ) is going to this, perhaps you could hook up, it's much easier for GAL if you do have loads of stuff you can just go sell it yourself! There's another couple of sales in Glasgow next month but I don't have the exact dates I'll try to find out!

Will be clearing out the bursting garage in the next couple of weeks so will have a load of stuff for you. Sorry can't help sell the stuff at the car boot sales..... I'm stacked up with work until ATLEAST August.
