Just a reminder there's a programme on tonight at 9pm (channel 4) about some obese dogs and cats. Worth a watch from what i've seen in the adverts for it.

hmm. saw a trailer for that programme last night. there was the most enormous rottie i've ever seen - obviously weighs a ton. however, the owner was screaming that she wasn't overweight!!!
I saw the trailer with the enormous Rottie and it made my blood boil For the owner to try and deny the dog being obese - surely she's deluded and needs treatment not t.v space.
How can these people claim to be animal lovers? Raaaaa, i'm going to shut up now before I get on my soap box.

good god!! what a dreadful woman she is. he's not much better either. i must be in the wrong job - correction, i'm in A job. the benefit system is obviously much more lucrative than working - they can afford a nice wide-screen tv, loads of earrings and a gold chain for the dog!!!
apart from that......... shouldn't someone report them to the RSPCA for cruelty? after all, starvation would result in a conviction, i don't see how over-feeding is any different.
i am totally gobsmacked........neil had to turn to another channel when that dog was on cos i got so wound up by it. poor dog
That was disgusting, i cant believe she couldnt see anything wrong with the rotti!! At least other folk were aware there was a problem. She actually thought dog was healthy that weight! Its breathing was so heavy they had a fan on for it, does that not just say how uncomfortable the dog feels as its panting all the time?!
People like that shouldnt have pets!!

Watched the program tonight and my jaw was on the floor most of the time by the ignorance of some people.
When we gave a home to an unwanted black labrador (Max) he was twice the weight he should have been about 9 stone in weight.... we couldn't lift him to weigh him properly. He was put on a diet the very next day and has stuck to it for over two years now. Last time we had him weighed he was only 38 kg..... litterally half the man he used to be ! (and just within the normal weight region for a large labrador)
When he arrived it was an effort to get up for his dinner or walkies. He used to constantly pant, couldn't sit on his butt like a proper thin dog and shuffle positions when sleeping; also a VERY BAD snorer !
Now he only pants when he's had a really good run and not just getting up off the floor. Thankfully now he's a fit and healthy dog who stills snores very loudly !!!
I guess my point here is its not the dog or cats fault for being FAT its the OWNERS !!! and how could they not see that feeding them bacon sandwiches and birthday cakes was making their animals fat, unhealthy and shorten their lives by years?
The presenter was right - the rottie looked more like a seal lumbering along the street than a dog being walked. What a shame she is owned by a complete idiot who is spoiling her dog literally to death and arguing aggressively when people tell her so.
I couldn't watch that awful woman. I agree the RSPCA should be able to do something as it is cruelty. I'm sure the SSPCA did manage to remove a very over weight dog once but not until it had large untreated sores in its folds of flab from lying on the floor all the time. It couldn't even get up to poo!!!!
Its a shame that the RSPCA etc can not act till it gets to that point.
I'm sure that woman with the rottie will have to go into hiding every dog lover in the land will be after her.
