I had the pleasure of meeting one of GAL's latest arrivals today (I think I'm in love!) We got a call 10 days ago about a female Greyhound who's family had been reported to the police for abusing her, cut a long story short she went into a GAL foster home last weekend. She's a bit underweight but not too bad, she's got such a lovely sweet nature and is a cheeky wee soul.
She's had a couple of vet visits since her arrival and got 14 teeth removed on Monday, we've seen a great improvement in her health since then, they really were rotten! She's now got a small womb infection but that will clear up with antibiotics. She's doing great in her GAL foster home with 2 other skinnies for company and she does love her sofa so much!
Now here's the crunch...We were originally told she was about 4yrs old but on investigating her tattoo's it turns out she turns 10 in August. She doesn't really look that age and doesn't really act that age either but there ye go. Problem is she's taking up a valuable space in a GAL foster home and at her age we're going to have some real problems rehoming her.
wow I never thought I would find another grey that I liked the look of as much as I did pebbles who was rehomes months ago.
She is beautiful. Wish we could take her but our house is rather unsettled at the moment as we are planning on moving and I don't think it would be fair on her or Blue who is wondering why his bed has been in 6 different places as we decorate to try and sell and a little unsettled 1 day we will get back to fostering.......
For anyone thinking of taking on an older dog - DO IT!!!! Bud is sooooo easy and sooooo laid back he is horizontal if not eating/on his walks.
It's a pity the older ones are so hard to place it was the best thing we did when considering our second greyhound. If we are ever in a position again to adopt/foster it would be an oldie.
The only downside I can think of is the flatulence. Or maybe thats just a man thing.
Flatulance isn't just a problem in oldies - Tilly is only 3 years old and she trumps like it's going out of fashion. We'd def think about taking on an oldie when we're in a position to take on another grey.

That's a shame. To be honest the fact that she's old doesn't bother me at all. If I'm looking to adopt again in the future I wouldn't take age into account. However, I DO have to take into account that she's not cat safe. Hope she finds a home soon.
Pinza's piccies have temporarily dissapeared from my initial thread whilst my web space is used for 'other matters' however just to let you all know Pinza went to her new home yesterday, much to my surprise and delight it's only taken me a couple of weeks to rehome her, I'm sure she'll be very happy in her new home..
Great news for Pinza, just shows that age does,nt matter when you have the cutest face because she is gorgeous. Hope all goes well for her in her new home. Nora
