Greyhound Awareness League - World Cup Predictor Competition
Permalink Closed

Hi Folks and welcome to The Greyhound Awareness League's WORLD CUP PREDICTOR COMPETITION!

We decided that for our next Kennel Fund event we'd choose something that doesn't involve the dogs! and with the World Cup in Germany kicking off on the 9th of June we thought this would be the perfect way to spice up the event (especially since Scotland haven't qualified!).

HOW IT WORKS

All you need to do is predict the results of all 48 World Cup first round matches. Points will be awarded for your predictions as follows:

* Two points for a correct result (win, lose draw)

* One point per correct score (eg England 2)

* One bonus point per exactly correct score and result (e.g. if you predict Germany 1 - 0 Costa Rica and the result is exactly right you earn a total of 5 points)

HOW TO ENTER To enter all you need to do is complete an entry form. These are available to download or print from the Greyhound Awareness League's Kennel Fund website. Just visit http://kennelfund.gal.org.uk/ and click on 'World Cup Predictor Competition'.

Once you've completed your entry form please email it to david@gal.org.uk or you can post your entries to: Greyhound Awareness League World Cup Predictor Carmichael Boat Cottage Hyndford Bridge Lanark ML11 8SJ

Please remember to enclose your own name and address with any entry submitted. HOW TO PAY The entry fee for the competition is £4.

To pay by cheque or postal order (UK residents only) make payable to GAL KENNEL FUND and send with your form to: Greyhound Awareness League World Cup Predictor Carmichael Boat Cottage Hyndford Bridge Lanark ML11 8SJ

To pay by PAYPAL simply visit www.paypal.com and pay your entry fee to kennelfund@gal.org.uk

To pay by NOCHEX simply visit www.nochex.com and pay your entry fee to kennelfund@gal.org.uk Please mark clearly on all payments your name and address.

THE PRIZES! Apart from the pleasure of bragging to your mates, we also have a cash prize for the first 3 positions after the 48 games have finished. Each £4 entry fee will go into a pot to be shared as follows:

1. 35% goes to the 1st place winner

2. 20% goes to the 2nd place winner

3. 10% goes to the 3rd place winner

4. 35% goes to the Greyhound Awareness League's Kennel Fund appeal to help towards our target of raising £60,000 over the next 3 years to finance our own purpose built Greyhound Sanctuary

DATES

Closing date for entries is 9:00am June 9th. PASS THIS ON! Remember the more people taking part means the bigger the prize so please spread the word about out predictor. How about passing some entry forms around your office and get all your workmates involved!

Don't forget the family too!! If you have any questions about the predictor please email david@gal.org.uk Good Luck!! Dave GAL

Yes Fiona - the most points wins!!

OK guys, hope to see lots of entries, remember this is kinda chicken and egg, the more entries the bigger the prize fund (and of course the more GAL gets!)

If you can get some entries passed round your office and get your work mates involved that would be great and probably the best way to get as many participants as possible. I've passed it round my office this morning and quite frankly couldn't get my team to do a jot of work all day cos they were all so busy looking at FIFA rankings and reports of old games on the internet! (got 2 entries from them already and lots more to come so I'm promised!) also remember if you know nowt about football all you really need to do is enter 96 random numbers on the entry form (with the numbers probably needing to be between 0 - 6 to keep it realistic!)..

I really do know NOWT about football......I didn't even know there was a world cup next month till I got your email.   Anybody got the dates of all the England games because I think I might book myself a kennel at Rachel and Eddies (Steves English and I feel a lot of na na nan nan na comming on  )

I will pass it round my staff at work though they are all football mad, and will get Steve to take it into his work.

Great idea to do a non doggy thing might be able to rope in a lot more family and friends who are all fed up about me banging on about my dogs.

Oh god  I only did this as a skive at work  and i love a challenge . I really do not want a prize but thank you for the offer.  I just had fun doing it.

Glenda trust me if i ever win the lottery GAL will be top of my list and I'd be giving more than 10%  I already have it all spent in my head with GAL getting kennels and more and me getting my big house and lot and lots of greyhounds Ahhhhhhhhhhh if only.

not long now folks!!....there's still time to get your entries in, just to give you all a little extra time I'll accept entries right up till 5pm on Friday when the first game starts so get you emails in! Currently the first prize is a whopping £99.40 but there's a few postal entries that I know of still to come which will push the prize over the £100 mark!...And remember the GAL donation is equivelant to the top prize so that means over £100 goes to the GAL KENNEL FUND

Hi Folk's thanks for all the last minute entries today!! I'm still waiting for one batch of entries that were posted this morning but at the mo there's 79 brave competitors making the 1st prize £110.60 (and the same amount donated to the GAL Kenel Fund.)

Well the cup has FINALLY kicked off, I didn't quite get the blokes in the lederhosen during the opening ceremony, some sort of ritual mating dance apparently, glad I don't live in Germany Talkinmg of Germany they looked pretty poor in their first game despite the 4 goals and Ecuador look like they may be a bit of a surprise package, no one in the entire predictor league predicted a win for them today!
