do you wash your dogs bedding? a friend of mine says she washes her dogs beds at least twice a week. After hearing this i felt a bit of a minger! I only wash mine when i think they really need it, probably about once every 3 or 4 weeks or maybe not even as often as that. Mine dont have blankets etc they have the big square cushions you get from the market for £3 or £5 depending on size so they are not as easy to wash. When they are filthy i usually just buy new ones as they are so cheap.

good question. dave and daisy have cellular blankets in the lounge which are easy to wash and tend to get done when they start to whiff - maybe every couple of weeks or so.
the doughnut beds are another matter altogether the only bit that will fit in the washing machine is the cover to the centre bit - the outside "ring" of the doughnut and the filling of the inner bit have no chance of getting in the washing machine - these beds are now beginning to seriously whiff but i didn't want to buy new beds at £20 a time !!! anyone got suggestions for cleaning these doughnut beds??

I tried washing them in a friends industrial sized machine and they started to smell within 2 weeks so it obviously didn't clean them properly.
Final solution: I threw them out and bought plastic round beds, and filled these with bits of duvets etc which I can wash (the dogs refused to use flat beds after the donuts were removed.)
my wonderfully indulgent pressies for the kids now need to be thrown out. well, they didn't last long back to the good old washable duvets and blankets then.
thanx for the info - it saves me from wasting my time researching the cleaning possibilities ! lol
We wash our two's stuff about once a month, though their bedding gets shaken out every day to remove crumbs and make it all smooth and cosy again. We use hard plastic beds with blankets in the kitchen, and the giant cushion sort with removable, washable covers in the lounge. They get washed about once a month too, or more frequently if they've eaten something and left the gubbins on the cushion.
Twice a week seems a bit excessive for washing their blankets. Our two love to have their own stink of their beds!!
Ours have hard plastic beds with cushions. The cushions have removable covers and get washed once a week between May and September (flea season!), less often during the winter.
Cas and Sasha have the doughnut beds and I wash the cushion cover and then with an idea from a friend, I wipe the large outer ring and cushion with babywipes and then a quick spray with a scented spray just for material. Works for a while and smells a whole lot better. Nora

thanks for that, nora - tho i have this awful feeling that i've left it too long for the baby wipes or febreze i think the doughnut beds are definitely past their best !!
