Viv - we put up a posting on this a short while ago but since it seems to happening more often so both Fiona and I are keen to know what the heck is going on.
When we cuddle Pearly, Harry usually tries to barge/wedge her out of the way or position himself so that he gets the attention. We usually ignore this so that he doesn't get his own way at the expense of Pearly.
However, he now frequently licks the top of her back just above her tail when we cuddle her. He wonders over and starts giving her a lick - wierd!
Would be great if you could tell us both what all this signals.
I wouldn't have a clue really, other than he just wants to be part of what's going on, and who can blame him! If he has been stopped getting in on the act by barging in between you and the other dog, I guess his next best option is to make contact with the 'bit' that is the nearest.
