4 years ago we went to a GAL Awareness Day at Bothwell. I had my eye on a huge, pony sized boy called Zyggy (what happened to him?!!), but Chas wasn't keen. Actually, Chas didn't want a dog, full stop! I actually had a lead in my bag, in readiness! How's that for wishful thinking!!
Ayway, to cut a long story short, a wonderful volunteer called Hazel asked Chas if he would "hold this dog" whilst she went to the loo (). Five minutes later, Chas told me that we had to take this dog home.
He was called Shane (racing name Baby Shane) - but we didn't like that! We changed it to Freddy!!!! (you were starting to wonder where this story was going weren't you?!!)
I don't know where the last 4years have gone! My big handsome boy has changed from a skinny, baldy bummed, slightly nervous dog to my favourite puppy in all the world!
So thanks Hazel for helping me out that day - certainly Freddy sends you lots of thanks too! Here are to the next however many years we have with my boy!!

what a lovely way to ensure the dog gets taken home !!!! my theory is again proved - people don't know they need a greyhound until they are educated on the benefits of having one !
Awww, Sharon, that's a lovely tale. My eyes are all teary at the thought of you with a lead in your bag, all ready to have a grey attached to the other end.
Congratulations on Freddy's 4th Gotcha Day. You're all very lucky to have found each other.
Have a blast today, Freddy, and get even more spoiled and loved!
....on June 22nd was also our Macy's Gotcha Day. Time has passed so quickly and it's hard imagining ever being without her. Then Toot arrived to keep her company - she loves him to bits and even though he's getting on a bit, she gives him lots of kisses and licks - the hussy!
