GENERAL APPEAL!
Permalink Closed

Hi Folk's this is just a general appeal for some new / temporary foster homes!!...June, sadly, has been another fairly slow month for GAL so the homeless dogs are mounting up again, we've a number of dogs needing to come into our care in the next 3 or 4 weeks so I thought I'd give this a go and see where it leads (no pun intended)

Here's our list of needy characters...

  • MURPHY - you can see him on the main GAL website, he's a 7yr old neutered Lurcher boy. He was rehomed by GAL 4 years ago but now sadly due to ill health in the family. He's a lovely boy who's only bad point is that he travels EVERYWHERE with a tennis ball! Murphy needs moved into GAL's care by Friday 30th June.

  • LASSIE - she's a 2yr old Black and White Geyhound Bitch, friendly wee girl who's retired due to a wee wrist injury. Lassie needs noved into GAL's care by Wednesday 12th July.

  • EDDIE - don't need to tell you much about him, check the foster sotries section on this forum about Eddie - Foster mum vicky is off on holiday for 1 week starting Friday 21st Jult so we need a 1 week foster spot for our eddie.

  • AMIGO - 3yr old White and Black male Greyhound, he needs moved into our care by Friday 30th June, don't know much about this guy as he's still with his current trainer.

  • DORNIE - you can see this little girl on the main GAL website, she's 3 yrs old. She's a nice girl with a cheeky nature. Her trainer has been kind to hold onto her since February but her time now is almost up.

  • OZZY - 3yr old Black male Greyhound, Ozzy (the man) is another nice character, he's currently in a council pound where he was going to be PTS today, after spending most of last night on the phone I managed to secure a temporary kennel space for him at a boarding kennels where he'll be going tomorrow, Ozzy needs moved out of the kennels by Friday 30th June.

If you can help out in ANY way please drop me an email at david@gal.org.uk

Hi Folks, well my motto 'It always works out' has come true again, Ozzy is off to a foster home on Friday, it's only temporary for another 2 weeks but hopefully by then I'll have homed a couple of dogs from our kennels! Thanks to Karen for taking Ozzy and also thanks to Claire for offering to take him too!!

Murphy and Amigo are hopefully going to be OK where they are for another few days, negotiations at an early stage with their current keepers but with a fair wind I can hopefully buy them some more time.

In my ever confident mode we've had a lot of applications through in the last couple of days and Home Checks are proceeding at pace so fingers crossed we can start shifting some dogs again, this is probably some sort of record but I've now went 17 days without homing anything, hopefully things will pick up soon...

It sounds hectic, glad you managed to get something sorted at least in the short term for the poor wee souls. We would love to help out but having just got Dan and Sally it would be a bit difficult. I'm guessing it must be the same for a lot of the folk on this forum, when a dog urgently needs a home its awful not being able to help.

Dave, did you manage to sort something out for Lassie? She sounds lovely.

If i'm not to far away then maybe i could foster for you in the future if everything goes ok with Sassy and she is settled with Neo.

Hi Gail, I'm juggling so many homeless dogs at the mo that all need moved it's getting a bit silly, it usually gets hectic during holiday season but I've never seen it this bad before, we had to take in 2 more dogs today, JAMIE was only hours away from being PTS by his trainer, he was lucky that another trainer I know rescued him for us and handed him over, he went up to Rachels kennels this evening. Jamie is now safe but thats a kennel space that was reserved for another dog now taken. SOOTY was literally minutes away from being shot last night when we heard about him, thankfully a friend of GAL's over in Fife rushed over to the trainers and took Sooty, he's now in temporary kennels till a week on Monday (so I'll worry about him then..)

As for Lassie, well her drop dead date was the 12th so arrangements are in place for her to go up to Rachels kennels tomorrow. Thankfully with MOSS, TOMMY & BOGART all going to their new homes in the last couple of days that gave me the space up there....It's kinda like a house of cards at the moment, if one of them falls over I'm stuffed. I'm hoping Lassie's stay at the kennels will be short as I'm hopeful for a foster space opening up for her on the 18th of this month.....
