What is Photobucket and Why Do You Need It?

In order to post pictures of your dogs (or anything else) on the forum the files need to be stored on the internet somewhere. They can be hosted on space provided by your ISP if you choose but, if you don't have access to any web space of your own, Photobucket is a great alternative.

Photobucket is a website which allows you to store your photographs (and videos) online and access them via links provided for you.

Your photos are stored in your album like this one which belongs to Dave and contains photos he's used on the forum.

How Do I Get Going with Photobucket?

Go to http://www.photobucket.com and click on Join Now or Register Now. Joining is free!

Enter a Username and Password, then provide some basic details to create your account. Once you've created your account, Log In.

You'll see a page with an 'Image Upload' box. Click on 'Browse' and select the file from your PC Hard Drive you want to upload. Now click 'Submit'.

After a few seconds the page will refresh, you should see the message '*Images successfully uploaded', and your picture will appear in your album below (scroll down).

[You can also upload several pictures at once by changing the number in the 'Submit Multiple Images' drop down box at the top of the screen.]

How Do I Get the Photo into my Post?

There are three boxes under each photo in your album - Url, Tag and Img. The one you need to link to your photo appears in the bottom box - 'Img'.

A single left mouse click in the box will highlight the entire link. Now you need to copy it. Here's how:

1) Click 'Edit' on your browser menu, then 'Copy'
or
2) Use the keys Control+C
or
3) Right click your mouse in the box and then left click 'Copy'

Now go to your forum post and paste in the link. (As above but click 'Paste' or use Control+V.)

What If the Photo is Too Big?

You can resize the Photobucket copy easily (no need to change your link!). Click on 'Edit', choose 25%, 50% or 75% of original then click 'Resize'. Note: - once you have resized your picture you won't be able to enlarge it again in Photobucket. You'll have to upload it again.

Well done! You just posted your first photograph!
