Just wondering whether Frontline-Spot on is the same as Frontline-Combo? I want to buy some on-line as it is less than half the price of buying it from the vet. We have protect our two from tics as well as fleas because there are loads of deer around our way. The product blurb says that Spot-on protects against tics, but I need to be absolutely sure. I'd hate to think they're protected and they're not.
Please don't quote me on this but I use frontline spot on with the cats (and the newly acquired dog). I remember a wee while ago the vet saying to me that frontline combo would ensure that fleas etc wouldn't be able to spread over the house and bedding etc. I think frontline combo may kill beasties on contact rather than waiting for them to bite, but not 100% sure of this. I kind of figured that since a flea or that should be killed when it bites then the chances of it getting on the soft furnishings were unlikely, but this would probably depend on where you live and where you walk your dogs. I am sure that frontline spot on kills tics but doesn't kill them as quickly as it kills the fleas.
Thanks for posting that URL, but unfortunately the website doesn't actually explain anything about Frontline - just lots of info on fleas and ticks.
I've been using the Bob Martin Spot-On treatment, simply because I can get it at Morrison's rather than having to make a trip to the vet. Seems to work just as well, but we don't have a particular tick problem round here as far as I know... at least I never found one on Bonnie in the 5+ years we've had her, even before I started frontlining.
Finding this thread interesting because i don't use Frontline at all...My vet recommended Stronghold as it kills fleas, tics and also worms at the same time but i'm concerned now that no-one else seems to use this.
Has anyone heard of it? And is it really ok for Greyhounds?
Please don't worry Stronghold is fine and a good all round product. It's just different vets stock different treatments. It is fine for greyhounds but as with all medication sometimes dogs can have bad reactions and if this happens let your vet know and they will make a note of it on your dogs records and give you an alternative product.
Please be guided by your vet, they are the experts.

Stronghold is fine but it is no longer accepted as protection for tics by the pet passport program on the DEFRA site.
