Free Dog Poo Bags!
Permalink Closed

Hi,

Not sure if posting in the correct space again, but anyway today I received a letter from my LHO (Local Housing Organisation) which is based in the East of Glasgow and kind of overseen by GHA.

Anyway, the main point is there is a wee section about dog mess, it lists bullet points about lifting mess immediately and Glasgow City Council's fines (from £40 to £500 upon conviction) and it also notes that you can obtain free dog bags from Glasgow City Council.  They are available by calling into 231 George Street or Freephone 0800 027 7027.

I was not aware of this service and intend to use any freebies going, and hope it will encourage other owners to clean up after their dog!

Unfortunately it may only be available to those living within the Glasgow City Council area.

Cheers
Carole x

If they are anything like the bags that were given out here a while ago, they ain't designed for a  greyhound-sized doodoo, I use scented pedal bin liners

I was under the impression that all local councils gave out poo bags all the time.

Here in Dundee i can walk into any Library or council office and pick up as many as i like. The ones they hand out are perfect and i take it so much for granted because i belived that happened everywhere!

I think all councils hand them out for free. I have been getting their free poo bags for years. Im in East Lothian so you can just go into any council office and get them. I just explain i have 3 dogs and they give me loads

Falkirk Council give the poop bags away free also. I think Jennifer is correct in saying that all the councils give them out for free.

Hiya Fiona, yeh you can get them from Haddington. Just go into the council office just behind the high street, you know the wee street tucked away opposite the beauticians. They have the bags behind the counter. More recently i went into the Prestonpans office on the high street and got some, also the Brunton hall theatre have them. I usually send my friend in too so i can get lots

The best poo bags we have come across are in Pets at Home. They are biodegradable in about 45 days. They are quite durable and quite big in comparison to the yorkie size bags you get from the council. We got them for the degradable quality, besides, some carrier bags still have holes in, and seeing as Sally's poo is almost radioactive..... well you get the picture...

Dont know if you get the same bags then as the ones me and my mum get from the council are fine in size. I have 3 big dogs to clean up after and i have never had a problem with the size

Also depends how many hounds  you have i suppose. I go through a large amount of poo bags cleaning up after 3 dogs several times a day. I'd rather get the bags free
