I'm a bit slow in posting this, so probably everyone will have seen it by now, but Jilly Cooper had a large article in the Mail on Sunday on 23rd July about adopting a greyhound. It is a lovely, touching description of her preparation and first few days with Feather - a black gh found wandering, starving, still in his muzzle which he had been stuck in for possibly weeks.
What a great story and just what was needed after the killing Fields horror last week . I have always liked Jilly Cooper but I like her even more now. Isn't it a shame Germaine Greer couldn't have written a loving, moving, positive story like that about her greyhound instead of the total drivel she turned out.
Good one Jilly.

How lovely! What a beautiful tale of Feather coming home. I've learned something too - seems that our Harry is a brindle tuxedo. Thanks for posting that, Lesley.
That is beautiful! My favourite sentence is this, though: Watch England World Cup match against Portugal. Feather unnerved at the cheering. Agree to whisper "Very well done, England' if they score
Such a positive testimony from someone as popular as Jilly Cooper should have a huge influence.
I've always liked Jilly Cooper as she comes across as a very nice person and i'm sure there must be many people who respect her opinions and thoughts. This is a lovely story told with love and sensitivity and can only be encouraging to anyone thinking about a adopting a Grey. Well done to her.
Jilly is a lovely person. She has donated a signed copy of one of her books and some signed photos of herself for the GAL fund raising auction to be held later in the year.
When she sent them she sent a lovely letter to me saying how much she loved greyhounds and wishing GAL all the best. I was gobsmacked that a busy novelist has actually handwritten a letter like this.
The book she donated to us is Pandora and features some greyhounds as characters.
What a beautiful narrative, written with extreme sensitivity and a great deal of love for Feather. Well done to Jilly for taking him into her home. And well done to her for donating to GAL to help raise funds.
This type of story really restores my faith in human nature
Jilly has written Feather's story beautifully! It's wonderful she's brought him home to live with her and he must think he's in heaven, the wee soul! It's also very kind of her to donate a signed book and photos to be auctioned for GAL funds. I hope she has many happy years ahead with Feather. Let's hope she writes a book about him later on. Now that's a book I'd definitely rush out and buy, judging by what she's written about him so far!
