Good reads....

Think this definately comes under the heading of "related bletherings" but has anyone else read "Marley and Me"?

For those who haven't seen it, the book is an account of life with a labrador retriever (quite a naughty one at that) from puppy-hood through to the end.

I only mention it because it captures the feelings all good dog owners experience throughout the lives of their dogs (labradors, or otherwise) absolutely perfectly. So perfectly, in fact, that not only did it make me laugh out loud, but also (I'm slightly embarrassed to say) sob like a baby at the end of the book (no prizes for guessing how the story ends).

Just wondered whether (a) anyone else has read it, and (b) whether anyone can recommend any similarly good reads about dogs / dog ownership / doggy quirks, etc.

Andrew.

The best dog book I've read is Buster's Diaries by Roy Hattersley (the politician) - very very good - had me smiling all the way to the end !!  It's written from the dog's point of view which I thought was very clever.

Buster's Diary is indeed brilliant. I love the way he calls Roy Hattersely "The Man". I believe a sequel is soon to be published.

I've read alot of reviews about Marley and Me, the author has made millions from writing a book about his naughty Lab (now why didn't I think of that with my old Lab) Its been a best seller in other countries and was on my "to read" list.

I've just read "Greyhound Tales" by Nora Star.  It was really good to hear stories of rescues from around the world and have my eyes opened to Spanish racing conditions and Irish attituded to greyhounds. But I just felt something was missing.  I think the GAL book will be much better

Finally remembered the name of this one, and has good reviews on Amazon if you want to see the basic plot.  Lorelei's Secret by Carolyn Pankhurst.
