There's no polite way of saying this, but Rosie's such a stinker!! She lies in the sitting room emitting the most putrid smells! Its disgusting and it doesnt stop there, once she's pooped and we've scooped the bag is held as far away as possible! It absolutely stinks! Is this a common greyhound trate, and how can we improve the smell?!

Hi Laura!
Your posting really made me laugh!!!!
Yes I think stinky bots is a common greyhound trait! However, we found that either charcoal biscuits as a treat, or a tablespoon of natural yogurt in their dinner makes a big difference.
Hope this helps

Dave and Daisy get a big dollop of natural yoghurt in their dinner every night. It certainly seems to have toned down the gas problem and, now that i come to think of it, the poo isn't as smelly as it was
Yea gods, the dogs' food is going to be costing more than ours at this rate. If it's not tomato juice to stop them burning the grass it's natural yoghurt to stop them reeking!
That's interesting though - natural yoghurt! I might just have to try that as Wills in particular honks! He's at his very worst when something has upset him, ie a thunder storm or fireworks!
Here's hoping for a gas-mask free zone before long!
We did give her a spoon of natural yogurt for her dinner last night, but I didnt put much in as I was worried it might make her a bit runny She suffers from being 'loose' quite often, but if it works, then she will be getting some more! We usually buy charcoal biscuits anyway to improve our dogs breath so will also give that a try!
Both Dave and Daisy used to be very very loose - the natural yoghurt seems to have made that much better. Initially, like you, I thought it would make matters worse but it hasn't. They each get a big tablespoonful on their dinner. It would appear that the natural good bacteria in the yoghurt settles their insides.
I also thought the cod liver oil would make them runny but it doesn't. Everyone says how good it is for joints so they continue to get that too. Of course, as it is derived from fish, they love it !!
Give it a go for a couple of weeks and see how Rosie gets on. After all, if it doesn't agree with her, you can always just stop giving it to her.
YES I agree with everthing said, both Cas and Sasha get sardines one night for their shiney coats and joints, Tomatos for there vitamins, natural yoghurt for their tummys and the rest is good food. I can tell you if Cas does not get her yoghurt she can reek for Scotland, it is disgusting and we came to the stage that we did not blame each other we all just looked at Cas.LOL Nora

Belle had a big problem with diarrhoea and wind, but since feeding her solely on Burns, and giving her four small meals instead of two big meals, the problem has sorted itself. She still gets the diarrhoea and wind from time to time, but at least it's not constant like it was before. Phew...
Piper is now nicknamed 'Gaspiper' because of her extreme windiness (her racing name was Windgap Maryland, so we should have realised what we were in for). I have just started adding a drop of fennel oil to her dinner which seems to successfully reduce the number of farts per evening.
