I was just wondering about Arden Grange. Almost everyone on the forum feeds/recommends Arden Grange and says it does wonders for their dogs. Do they sell in shops or just online? Ive read you can phone some guy and he will deliver, but do you pay when its delivered or before? We dont like the idea of buying things over the internet. Also noticed its quite expensive, a 15kg bag of Beta Mantinence costs £24/25 which is what we give Rosie just now and will last about a month. How long will the same amount of AG last? (in total Rosie gets 3 mugs of food a day) Anyone help?
Hi Laura Give Jim a call - 07821 547194, by ordering through Jim you will pay when the food's delivered. Also if you had a look at the website it gives you recommended feeding guidelines and approximate costing per day.
Hi, Laura - Steve and I recently changed Harry and Pearly to AG due to their refusal to eat their previous food (which was Autarky - a similar complete food with no preservatives and colours, etc). Pearly can be a fussy wee mare, but for Harry to do this was quite incredible!
I confess that I was a tad cynical before about feeding AG, thinking that the Autarky was a perfectly good food and there was no need to pay quite a lot extra despite all the praise on the forum for AG. But IMHO it's definitely been worth it. We've found that the new food lasts longer because they need less of it; I reckon you'll find that per-feed it compares very favourably price-wise with your current food. Both our dogs certainly seem to love it. We've also noticed a definite sheen to their coats and Harry's feels a lot softer too.
Good news, we are going to give AG a try! I managed to persuade my parents that its a good food and Rosie would benefit from it (especially her back end!) Not sure when we're going to get it, but Im pretty sure Rosie will soon be a changed dog!
Oh yeah Laura you posted in health issues about 'stinkies coming from Rosie' well I have found that AG made a massive difference on this little matter and we have less stink
We switched Tilly onto Arden Grange and, Laura, I don't think you're going to be disappointed. The change in Tilly's overall condition improved almost overnight. She put on weight, got a much shinier coat, her poo is more solid, and our house is decidedly less windy!
Coming back to FAJ's comments - we werre worried by the amount of protein in AG. Don't see this as a problem but and I've noticed that Pearly is a tad more bouncy in the mornings and has a bigger thirst for hunting things! Harry on the other hand is still the same easy going chap - indoors.
They certainly like the stuff anyway. You can get bigger bits of kibble too so that they crunch it (better for teeth) rather than swallow the stuff like vacuum cleaners.
I hope Rosie will slow down when she eats as it just gets inhaled in about 2minutes! Anyway, we are hopefully going to move all the dogs on to AG if all goes well with Rosie!
Right, we moved all the dogs onto AG yesterday, and its a bit early to say if its worked, but it disappears from the bowls as quick as ever! This morning Rosie was a bit firmer, but the next few days will be the real test. Thanks for all your advice.
Well, you have another member for the 'Arden Grange-Wonder food' Club! Not a sign of looseness from Rosie, much less smelly, and overall brilliant! Our other dogs are on AG Light and dont seem to have noticed any change apart from the flavour! The best thing is that roughly the same amount goes in, but less comes out the other end! So theyre obviously getting more from the food. Glad we changed them and the house is almost greyhound gas free!
Thats good news your dogs are better on AG. I might give it a go when i move house. At the moment im in a flat and the guy would have no where to leave it if im out. When i move house, he can leave the food in the garden shed
I wouldnt trust any of my neighbours at the moment not to nick it I have only heard good things about it, must be good stuff

We have Dan on Arden Grange as the higher protein levels and content seem to agree with him more. He's old and chilled out and needs the extra protein sometimes to remove himself from the cosyness of the couch.
However, the Arden Grange doesn't agree with Sally, as she is quite highly strung, we give her Burns as she gets a bit edgy and hyper on the Arden Grange. SHe tends to poo like mad too! ONly thing is the price. We get a 15kg bag of Burns for £35. The Arden Grange is £21. But i believe that the price of our Arden Grange is the fact that if you buy it through a farm or equestrian style store the 15kg is counted as a "Breeders Bag" and you don't pay the VAT.
THe other good thing about the Burns is that the chunks are a wee bit bigger and slows down your dog if they eat like a dyson.

OK 3 X 15kg bags of AG later (cant say i didn`t give it a chance lol!). I`ve never seen my dogs coats look so dull. I really don`t rate it, but then i never rate commercial pet foods.
Absolutely, Sha, each to their own. What works for your dogs is what's best for them, and vice versa.
Our two get the odd bone from the butcher and they love them. They also love their veggies and fruit. Who would have thought that a dog would get so excited by an apple!
Totally agree. I have tried some foods that people have recommended to me and its not suited my dogs. I think you have to try different things until you find the most suitable for your dogs (s)
It's definately trial and error finding the right food for your grey. We tried a number of foods ranging in prices etc and finally settled on Arden Grange as it agrees the best with Tilly and we noticed a difference in her overall condition virtually straight away. All dogs are different aren't they?
