Christmas night out - Glasgow area?
Permalink Closed

Hello

Sorry to mention it so early but since it is the time of year when venues start to get booked up - I wondered if anyone would be interested in having a Christmas meal out as a group without the dogs in the Glasgow area.  Thought it would be nice to have a get together at the end of the year and get to know each other better, since normally at events we are all so busy.

I realise that we have members all over the country - I am not meaning this to be an official GAL do but just a wee social night for those who could make it and live close enough to have a night out in Glasgow or the surrounding area.:

Any thoughts?

I think that's a great idea !     I live to the north of Glasgow but willing to travel.

Sounds like a nice idea.
Maybe we could wear badges with our dog's names on so we know who everyone is

Sounds like a great idea!  Living in Dunoon though, I could only try my best to make it.  If it was a Friday or Saturday then I'd maybe manage to make the last ferry home.  Sure someone would dogsit until then!

I would probably be able to make it and think it sounds like a great idea. Any excuse to treat myself to a night in a b&b in Glasgow rather than travel home.

Now where did i put my list of dog and babysitters

That sounds good to me, I'd always thought a wee social gathering would be nice.

We could have an East and a West night, then people can choose to attend one or the other - or both!

OK - does anyone have any suggestions of where they would like to go?  I could make some enquiries and see what is available in December - I was thinking earlier in the month rather than later on when things get a bit hectic.

I will do a bit of research

Fraid I can't suggest anywhere as I don't know Glasgow area at all.

Early in the month sounds great and more likely to get more people along then, as everyone seems to get so tied up nearer to Xmas.

There are loads of nice Italian restaurants in Glasgow, but I don't get out much these days, so haven't been to many! Esca is lovely, it's very small and friendly. It's across from the Tron Theatre.

If anyone wants, you can have a look on here www.5pm.co.uk  I use this site when I go out and read all the menus then book wherever sounds good. I'll go anywhere, but I hope I'm off the next day!

Hi everyone

Sorry to take so long to update this one - I think organising a night out in December is going to be quite difficult with everyone's commitments around that time of year (including mine now!).

I am going to the GAL Ceidlidh in November and I know a few of you who replied are (or at least thinking of it).  I would suggest a get together there instead for those who can make it as an alternative?

Hope this is ok and sorry if everyone who replied can't make the Ceidlidh - it's just my circumstances have now changed for December and I don't really have time to organise something.

So sorry to hear that we didn't think far enough in advance for a Christmas parties - as I do love to entertain. So if we can't organize one for December - how about having a party mid January to help ease over the holiday blues?? I love the holidays even when they are so hectic and in the middle of Jan there just doesn't seem much to do - especially if the weather isn't the best. A Party might cheer us up as well as get to know people.

Let me know if anyone who responded earlier would like to do that and I'd be happy to look about. Just got a brochure on where to have parties... so it could be abit easier to book as well.

Thanks,

Linda
