Cut pads
Permalink Closed

Hi,

Morse has yet again got something stuck in his paw and had to go back to the vet because he can't walk on his foot at all. I just wondered if anyone else had similar problems or suggestions - the last time this happened was 2 weeks ago but I don't think that cut had healed up enough and that's why it's been cut again. I've heard you can get something to dip greyhounds' feet into to toughen them up but am not sure if this is just used for the racing industry?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Gillian

Poor Morse, there is nothing surer to make them miserable than sore feet.

Don't know if this will help but Neo has very flat feet (according to the vet) and his pads always seemed to be cut or just generally sore. I started using tea tree pad oil that i got from my local pet shop, it says it's supposed to soothe sore pads and keeps them supple to help stop any tears. Neo has had a lot less problems since i started using it so it might be worth giving it a go.

Might not be any good for Morse as i don't think it really toughens the pad as such which is what i was hoping to do as well but it has certainly helped him.

hugs to the big lad

Thanks Gail,

Anything is worth a try! Otherwise we'll have to win the lottery to pay the vet's bills!!

Poor boy - hope his feet are better soon.  Give him a hug from Dunoon.

Hi Gillian, haven't tried this so can't personally vouch for it but just read of a similar problem on another forum, anyway the advice there is to apply summit called Friars Balsam, apparently available from good chemists...
