We had a wee local show at Ardnadam Farm today (weather was appalling) and I was so proud of Millie and Tigger. The kids had asked if they could enter a couple of my dogs as there was a distinct shortage of four legged competitors for the dog jumping class. Wills just won't jump - gets a bit stressed and confused - poor baby. He just watched his two lady friends performing.
Tigger was brilliant and took all the patting and fuss that was doled out. A couple of kids were pestering the life out of her and at one point I thought the wee boy was trying to suck her eyeball out (he was giving her a kiss) and the wee girl nearly poked her eye out with a lollipop stick! Their mother was good though and did stop them and explain why they shouldn't eat lollies near dogs and to be gentle with them. Needless to say Tigger took it all in her stride and proved to anyone there that needed proof that greyhounds make fantastic (and very patient) pets. Sadly she didn't win anything!
Millie looked somewhat less than enthusiastic but did manage a third place with her junior handler for the day.
You must be very proud? It'd amazing how tolerant some greys can be. Tilly will stand all day and take any amount of fuss. Think she's def lived with kids before as she tends to head in the general direction of any kids when in the local park. She's tolerant of puppies aswell, our neighbours have a GSD pup and when he was a bit smaller he used to swing off her tail!
