That one of Tara, Maverick and Cory is a cracker. Mine very rarely share a sofa - Wills and Tigger are the most likely candidates. Millie just hogs the two seater.
I am quite partial to the floor now. Greys have the most uncanny knack of looking so comfortable that you feel guilty about moving them!
We got new sofas recently and grumpy old Steve wont let the dogs on them boooooooo To be honest I was more upset than the dogs were as they both got big new cushion beds which they love. I still sneak them up when Steves at work

What great pics of all the lovely greys on sofa's. I let Jack lie on the sofa from the beginning 3 months ago. Now, we have re-decorated the whole house and have a new sofa coming on Friday. Bad daddy David, Grrrr nasty daddy, says no more getting up on the new sofa!!!!!
I am going to feel really rotten about it!! Hope Jack forgives me for not letting him up! Although, we have bought a new bed for him to put on the floor beside the sofa. David also reminded me that he has a large bed in the kitchen, one in the hall, a plush bed beside ours in the bedroom and a bed in the car!! Not the same as the sofa though is it!
We still don't mind him on the beds as not much damage can be done and duvet covers are cheap enough to replace.
For those with leather sofas, are they reasonably greyhound (rip) safe, should he manage to get on it?????
I think quite alot of leather sofas can easily get scratch marks, but the bonus is leather is very easy to clean. Our preference is to put cotton throw covers on the seats of our leather sofas for protection and also another secured cover underneath those, as a certain grey lady in our house sometimes tries to claw at the covers to make it more comfy!
Marian, i agree with Lita, leather is great for just wiping down!! If i'm honest mine has a few more scratch marks than it did before the dogs arrived. Sally hasn't mastered the couch yet but Neo loves it and thinks it's his own. i just cover the seats with throws because i don't have the heart to stop him climbing up.
Strange thing is he still tries to sneak all 35kg of him on it without me noticing, i really believe he thinks he's invisible
I found my dream sofa on ebay a year or two ago (bright yellow, a cross between a chaiselongue and a sofa) and therefore am a bad dog mama now. Dogs are allowed in the armchair, and on the beds, but not on the sofa. I feel constantly guilty, and if we had the space I'd put up a second sofa just for the dogs!
However, compromise: when we watch telly, Piper is usually allowed on our laps... (Bonnie doesn't want to). Totally ridiculous.
I have no photo of the usual situation - i.e. 3 people with Piper stretched across them - but this one, taken when Kyra (CloudyDays) was ill recently, gives you an idea of the setup.
I'm afraid to say that i bought my last sofa to suit my dogs. I have a 4 seater and a 3 seater. Angus and Jenna have the 4 seater to themselves and I get the 3 seater to share with the cats. Occasionally Angus will hog the 4 seater when he decides to stretch out fully, then Jenna ends up with me. Everyones happy!
We're bad. Harry and Pearly aren't allowed on the furniture (don't tell Dave, cos he might take them back!!). Seriously, though, they've never shown any inclination to get on the sofa or the bed. I once encouraged Peraly to get on the sofa when she had a poorly leggy about a year ago but she was very confused by the whole thing. We suspect that Harry would enjoy getting up on the bed a bit too much so that's a definite no-no.
But they do have soft warm beds in the kitchen, the living-room, the summer-house plus spare duvets for when they come upstairs for a nap on the bedroom floor, so it's not all purgatory for them in our house.
Nobody is bad for not letting their dogs on the sofa!! As hubby keeps saying, it does not mean we love them any less just because they are not allowed up on the furniture.
Our last dog and cats have really wrecked my sofa. So, hubby is adamant it is not going to happen again. He knows I am a huge softie!!! I just made a big mistake when Jack arrived. I should have started as I meant to go on. I knew fine we were intending getting a new sofa soon after he arrived. I just wanted to spoil him so much!! It probably was very thoughtless of me to start letting him up on it in the first place.
I'm sure he will get used to the idea quickly. I am still going to feel rotten !!! Bad mummy!
There isn't a grey in the country who isn't a couch potato....literally!! Took Lenny a couple of years before he decided the sofa was actually rather comfy. Strange but true! He never had any inclination to climb aboard. Now he has the two seater to himself. The girls come up with my on the 3 seater most nights. Lenny doesn't like to as he likes his space. He's one of those hounds that think they are the size of a bus and couldn't possiblt fit. They sleep on the bed too to be honest. Stu goes to bed really early as he's up in the middle of the night so when he's working we really have to sleep seperate. I sleep in the king bed with the hounds. Lenny has his space beside me but he's a funny boy about being touched by the girls. He likes a certain space and if he fels crowded he goes off in a huff into the dog bed (it's a very vety comfy dog bed! Even has elec blanket in winter!!) Now that it's getting colder he's staying the night on the bed. When it's winter I wake up in the middle of the night with a big lump pratically laying on top of me. Seems cuddling in and touching is ok when it's on his terms!
