Hi Folks! Just a reminder that the next GAL Glasgow Monthly dog walk takes place next Sunday October 1st.
If you haven't been on one yet you are missing a fab day out, it's great to see SO many hounds doing their thing! The walk is round the loch in the park which is about 3 miles but don't worry you don't need to go all the way round if you don't want to!!
WHEN: Sunday the 1st of October WHERE: Strathclyde Park in Glasgow, the walk will start from the first car park on the right hand side just past the Watersports Centre. TIME: 11am
There's no set plan for the day however there will be a number of GAL volunteers in the Car Park from 11am - 2pm.
As a special treat for this months walk I'll have with me some of the fantastic new coats for your hounds, just arrived from the states, don't miss the chance to be one of the first to get your dogs all kitted out for Christmas!
Remember if you can't make it on the 1st don't worry, our walks will continue on the first Sunday of each month right the way through 2006!
Sadly, I don't think I will make it. It's quite a long way for us to come and Millie is not the best traveller. She's doing much better than she did when we got her (not nearly as travel sick now).
Well, we had a lovely walk round the park. Shame we missed you Dave!! We weren't allowed in either car park, so parked on the verge, then our car was about to be towed away, so we moved it round to the car park where the Sponsored walk started and walked from there and finally met the others about 3/4 of the way round!!
Ooh, Ice is soo lovely. I was amazed at how thin he was
ps Rosie's a bit miffed by you calling her a 'toy greyhound' lol
well thanks to everyone who turned up today, another great turn out, thought when I got up this morning it was going to be a wash out but I ended up almost getting a tan sitting in the sun! Apologies to Laura and anyone who turned up a tad late, seems there was some Prince's Trust thingy on in the park today, lots of soilders and pipe bands, think everyone managed to find us eventually.
Sorry about calling Rosie a toy Greyhound she is just lovely and dinky, makes you want to pick her up and put her in your pocket!!..
One of the homeless dogs that attended today was a lovely lovely boy called ICE, he's currently in the SPCA Bothwell Bridge, thanks to them for allowing him to attend today, his piccies are below, he's such a LOVELY boy, as you can see he's a real unusual White Rough Coated lurcher, he's been in the SPCA for 3 weeks and is still a bit of a sorry state, he's dead skinny and could do with a bit of a bath and some TLC. He's a timid wee soul and he REALLY needs a forever home soon, if you can help him please do let me know!!..OK, blatant advert over, I really didn't have to say anything about him, pictures tell a thousand stories..
A member of staff from the SSPCA named him and it suits him doesn't it? I've never seen a pure white lurcher before, he really will be a stunning boy once he's put the weight on and had a grooming session. One things for certain you certainly won't lose this boy in the dark.
When I dropped him back at the SSPCA Caroles blue cat was sleeping in her bed and although they don't do cat testing I managed to persuade Carole to see how he would get on. Ice had been so good with a Yorkie at the walk that I felt he was definitely worth cat testing.
Poor cat had to be 'tipped' out of her bed as Ice showed absolutely no interest at all in a sleeping cat. Unfortunately she is rather a portly lady so she didn't move much once tipped out but again other than pricked ears Ice showed no interest.
He does have kennel cough at the moment which may be making him feel rotten so we're perhaps not seeing his true colours. One more piece of information, his kennel maid is concerned he may be deaf (some white animals can carry a faulty gene causing deafness). She didn't actually say whether or not he was to be checked by the vet for this.
GAL are holding an Awareness Day at Bothwell on Sat 7th Oct, if Ice is still looking for a home he'll be putting in an appearance (depending on his kennel cough and being allowed out of his kennel of course).
Dave he is absolutely lovely you will break my heart showing pictures like this. I would take him in a flash if I thought that he could cope with my pair of ruffians and fit in the car with them. I wonder how I subtly send the photos of him to my mum bet she couldn’t resist.

She seems huge when she's prancing about the house chucking her toys everywhere! She's getting rather alot of attention form the males down the park, and I must say, she seems to enjoy it!! A much friendly dog than she was in the first few weeks. Anyway, at least we managed to meet you near the end! Just how far is the walk Dave??
We would love to have Ice, but as we said to Denise, we just dont have the time/money/space
I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want .......... You get the picture?!!
Don't you think standing next to Wilma they would look like a before & after a haircut?!!! How striking would 2 pure white dogs look ..... anyone any tips for persuading Chas?!!

He is stunning! What a lovely wee face. The name certainly does suit him. I hope he'll be snapped up quickly! He's another to add to my wish list. It's scarily long! Sadly Graeme is still saying no to all my attempts to coerce another into the house!
