Expensive play in the garden....
Permalink Closed

You've probably guessed from the topic that Tilly has had a trip to the vets this evening.  She was having her usual freak round the garden like she does every day when I get home.    She squeeled and carried on running round the garden as if nothing had happened.  It was only when I picked up one of her toys that I noticed there was blood on it and checked her over.  I initially thought she's biten her tongue as there was blood on her toy. It was only after she'd crossed the kitchen floor, across the cream lounge carpet and jumped up on the armchair that I noticed it was her dew claw!  A trip to the vets later, a light dressing (which somehow she's hasn't chewed off yet!), some antibiotics and some anti-inflammatories and almost £30 down!!!  She's now feeling very sorry for herself, think she may need some sardines for dinner don't you?!!!  Am sure she'll be extremely pathetic when Andrew gets home from work in a bit!  Though she did look very guilty when I was scrubbing all the blood out the carpet!

Poor Tilly. it always seems to be the dew claws that get the damage isn't it. When Angus does it he has to get his cortorised(?) to stop the bleeding.

Hope Tilly heals quickly and back running about like mad in no time.

Poor soul!  Millie's had one of hers "removed" twice now but it has grown back yet again!  It's only ever that one that seems to get caught.  Nightmare!

Give Tilly a big hug from us and tell her we hope that it heals nice and quickly so that she can get back to galloping round her garden!

Poor Tilly, im sure the sardines helped her forget all about it

Im always surprised Millie doesnt injure herself as she tears around her new garden at such hight speed, missing things by inches

About an hour after I originally posted this topic Tilly had managed to pull her dressing down, not quite off but was on the way!!  Managed to replace the dressing and so far - touch wood - it's stayed on.  She's seems to have suffered no ill effects from yesterday - infact i think she's forgotten all about it!  She was funny when a neighbour came round last night, she came to the door and sort of held her poorly leg out all pathetically as if saying to him "Look - poorly leg!"  It obviously worked as he made a fuss of her.  I'm surprised it hasn't happened to her before as she absolutely tears round the garden most days and am sure she'll carry on doing so!

Wishes to Tilly for fast healing.  The dressings must be such a bother, and reminds me of last week, when Biscuit and I were in the woods, and up comes this 1 year old chocolate lab called Baxter with what looked like a pure white flag on the end of his tail.  Whilst Biscuit and Baxter ran riot, owner explained re. sore tail etc.  10 mins later, 2 panting, muddy dogs, no sign of white bandage!!

Hope Tilly recovers soon and manages to keep her dressing on. Neo still has a missing claw from the week before the GALA when he ripped it out but it's not causing him any bother and i'm still hoping that as it's not a dew claw it will grow back eventually!!

Sending her big hugs from us
