Sanna was meant to be getting her stitches out last nite but her wound is needing another few days to heal, took her home last nite around 5 and James took both of the dogs up to the end for relief......Sanna done both then suddenly collapsed in a heap....couldn,t walk or move any legs at all.he scooped her up and came running in to phone the vet immediately....not again...
She was looking VERY POORLY NO FEELINGS AT ALL BELOW HER NECK....anyway we screeched back up to the vet and she was put on oxygen and xrays done but never showed anything up she was in agony,i,m so breaking my heart at the moment so excuse the jumble mumble, our vet asked if she was insured and i asked why?she said be prepared for a large bill,as if that mattered i just want my posh pup to be mended regardless of cost so she phoned the vet school and after 2 hrs waiting they agreed to see her but at a cost of £2000.......so off we went heading to vet school exceeding all speed limits because wen they were taking her off oxygen she was losing the fight so you can imagine how stressed out we were..time meant everything....
We arrived at the vet school at 7.30pm last night and they said she will need the full works meaning MRI scan, spinal tap, blood samples etc and all we could do was wait..they examined her and it was quite distressing to watch a vet poking down her spine with a pair of scissors and grabbing her toes with them for a reaction but to no avail it wasnt looking good,She went for an MRI scan this morning and her spine seams okay so now they have done a spinal tap and they found her cells were abnormal instead of 2-5 cells Sanna has over 40 which means there abnormal, this could mean she has Meningitis or her own immune system is attacking itself or maybe a stroke i cant get my head aroun this as i type it happened as quick as a light switch being turned on....my poor Sanna...sobbing our hearts out but all we can do is hope and pray that she pulls through .....SHE HAS TO...THEY HAVE SENT THE FLUID AND BLOOD UP TO THE LABS AND WE WILL HOPEFULLY KNOW COME TEA TIME TONITE...it,s been a true nightmare these past few weeks but hey we are in it for the haul...Badger is pining his princess and misses her terribly..
Will keep you all posted on results at tea time...sorry for blethereing on and on but its been a long nite and even longer day....

well 1st big thanks to all our extended family at Gal....your prayers and thoughts are greatly appreciated and well needed for sure.Been sat at this screen for 80 mins thinking what to write,so many tears and feel my life has just crumbled in front of me.....sorry for babbling but hey it,s Family
Just had the Vet School on the phone and our poor Sanna looks like she,s had a massive stroke...she is paralaysed from the neck down with no sensation at all.The nuerologist explained there is nothing they can do but start physiotheraphy which usually last 8 weeks but Sanna is a bit more serious and we will know within 2 weeks if not sooner wether there is an improvement in recovery. We are getting to see her this Saturday for a few hours....see if she responds to us ,its just a matter of each day and see if her spirit can carry her forward if not i won,t see my princess in any pain thats for sure....cruel to be kind kinda if you know wat i mean......AMEN.....will keep you posted, and all your kind words are really needed and appreciated..need to stay positive but realistic...sorry for the babbling but you know how it is at times like this..............cheers to all

I've just caught up with this and am so sorry to hear about poor Sanna.
I hope she responds to physio. You all must be devastated, to say the least. We'll be thinking of you all over the coming weeks. Give Sanna a hug and tell her to fight with everything she's got - her Dunoon cousins are rooting for her.
Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know how things are with Sanna, it is very sad to hear the results of the tests and the only thing we can all do now hope and pray that things go well for her. Take care of yourself and if you need to talk we are all here. Nora

Thinking of Sanna and praying that the physio will help her. Our thoughts are with you, James and Badger. Keep us posted on what's happening - that's what we're here for. Take care
I'm so sorry to hear about Sanna. We'll continue to wish her well and hopefully her strength of spirit will carry her through. My heart goes out to you, James and Badger.
Im so sorry I really hope Sanna responds well to the treatment. I know a dog from my old work that this happened to, and it took months but eventually she responded and now she can run again, a bit unsteady but has a good quality of life. At the time this happened the vet told them it would be best to call it a day, but they wanted to give the dog a chance and its proved its been worth it.
Please stay positive as given time she will hopefully improve. I'd be really upset if this happened to any dog, but because Sanna is Millie's sister i feel really sad.
I am praying that she comes through this

Poor Sanna - I do hope she recovers. What a horrid experience for you all. I hope Jennifers post gives you hope. Stay strong and give Badger lots of hugs.. I do hope Saturday goes well - good luck!!!!
Speedy and I send our love and best wishes and the 3 cats have been ordered to cross their paws.. Speedy is legs-in-the-air oblivious but I will order him to cross paws too...
Just had the vet school off the phone as Sanna started her physio today they put her in a hoist and lowered her down and her back right leg is quite strong but the rest show no response for now.....the vet said she has been made comfortable and she had to have a katheter fitted just to ease her relief....she can sit up slightly and has moved her head and neck slightly....that is a major improvement for me and my princess, just hope we can carry on,vet said she is a bit more hopeful but it will be a long haul and a stay in the school for a long period, i told the vet that they can keep her for as long as it takes obviously, but as long as we can be reunited with her in the end.....after all she,s our forever girl.bit more hopeful now.
Conor my Son of 8 has made a cat mobile in school for her and made pictures for her TEMPORARY home.i,m off to Supermarket to buy a chicken and a bag of treats for her for tomorrow.Badger can visit her through the week they,ve said, so hopefully that will perk up the little princess, will give an update on how she,s doin over the weekend.
THANKS TO ALL THE FAMILY AT GAL FOR ALL THE SUPPORT

I'm absolutely THRILLED to hear that Sanna is making baby-steps towards recovery. Here's hoping that the rest of her follows the improvements made in her right leg.
You know, I recall a chap on another forum and his greyhound, who had severe spinal trouble. The vets had pretty much given up on the dog but the chap and his wife did not. They were utterly devoted to him and their hard work paid off, because after many months he did get better. And this particular dog wasn't a youngster either - I think he was about 11 or so. Just shows what faith, love and determination can do.
Hang in there, lovely Sanna. We're all rooting for you.
Thats great news!! The fact she has made a little progress and can move her neck a bit must be a good sign. She's in the safest hands aswell of the experts which must reassure you. Hopefully she continues to improve.
Keep us posted and paws are still crossed

Just caught up with this thread today - am so sorry to hear about Sanna, it must have been so distressing for you all. She's obviously in the best place right now and they're doing all they can for her. She sounds like she's fighting it and even just small things are a sign that she's improving. Hope she continues to do so and she'll soon be home with all of you.
Tilly sends hugs and licks to both Sanna and Badger too.
