I rather fancy my chances at this one....

Friends,

I propose a forum big-bed competition.

Django's bed seems to be growing bigger by the week. It started off with a folded over duvet. Then he got an old sleeping bag, then a tartan rug and now one of those big doggy cushions. To top it off we've recently added an old soft guitar case as isulation now the nights are getting colder. That's only his night-bed too.

Note the guitar case against the wall.

That's with his duvet folded over.

The rug gets tucked over him now it's colder at night.

As I say, that's just his night bed.

Here is his occasional day-bed.

That's his basket of toys alongside it - ted has been dumped rather unceremoniously there.

And here he is right now on his 2nd day-bed.

It's only fair to include one bed in this competition, so can anyone rival Django's night-bed for scale? A prize* to the winner of the forum big-bed competition.

* Winner must buy self own prize.

Really?! An actual human bed dedicated especially to Millie? That's seriously upped the stakes if that's the case.

We need pictorial evidence though Jennifer.

We claim joint first place... Speedy also has a king sized human bed. I bought it after splitting up from my husband - little thinking I would have to try and share it with a huge grunting hound! He hates getting up in the morning as it is sooo comfy...

Jesus! I was certain I was on to a winner as well!

Great pictures - they look very happy on their massive beds.

Django actually stole my bed off me not so long ago. He came into my bedroom and got onto my bed - a single bed so it was a bit of a squeeze. He weighs 35kg so he is not an insignificant bed partner. He ended up trapping the majority of the covers under him and I started to freeze. He even growled at me when I attempted to push him over!

When he clambered onto my pillows I gave up and went to the spare bed next door.

He isn't allowed on my bed anymore.

Jennifer, as instigator and therefor judge of this competition I have decided that Millie's bed is in contravention of the rules of the Big-Bed competition. Big-Bed rules state that beds must be dedicated dog-beds - shared human beds do not count!

How'd you like dem apples?

As the winner has to buy his/her own prize I am not really trying to win too hard... (Honest!) BUT Speedy also sprawls on the big bed in the spare room when he can get in and the cat's aren't taking up all the room....
I rarely have visitors so it is a designated animal bed for at least 330 days per year and more if the cats like my visitors. Unfortulately I have to de-hair the room for next weekend when a couple of friends are staying. As I have just buggered up the tendons in my right arm I am putting that job off until the last minute..

We are the champions. We are the champions. No time for losers. We are the championssss. Of the World......

Tee Hee!!

Right, let's get this straight - if I had lost I'd be the first to hold my hands up graciously in defeat. However, I really wasn't prepared your use of underhand bed-sharing tactics, I expected better from GAL forum users - doesn't someone vet you people?

Claire - you should go all out for this one. The competition rules state that the winner (legitimate winner) is allowed to buy himself or herself whatever prize they like. It really is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Besides, I'm sure we'll get some more entries - the competition has just begun.

Very impressive from you all.

What about our lot - all three bedrooms are in use for most of the night - if we added up the bed space as a total, I'm sure we'd win - 2 double beds and one single.  It's like musical beds in our house at night and I'm never sure who will end up where (humans and dogs!!)

Of course, all three beds are covered in dog hairs so it's a good thing we don't have visitors or I'd be cleaning bedding all the time.

Nah! Teresa - that doesn't cut it for me! Divided between 3 dogs your bed space is 2 X 4 feet 6 inches plus 3 feet. Thats 12 feet in total and the equivalent of 4 feet per dog.... king sized beds are 5 feet and also 6 inches longer than double beds...

And who says that it's only men who worry about 6 inches??

Speedy is on one of his beds awaiting supper.. Need to go feed him...
