After the stresses of this week and with Neo being on short walks i decided to take Sally on a bit of a trek to a new park today. When i got there i discovered a large very quiet area that looked really secure so decided to walk the perimeter just to check it was safe as Sally has never been off the lead in the 4 months she has been with me. I have been doing recall training in the house with a whistle but didn't have it with me but after much debate decided to give it a go.......


We spent a good half hour with Sally running around like a lunatic, and me losing about 20 years off my life, wondering if she would ever stop long enough for me to catch her when it was time to go. Although she ran mad she always ran back towards me and when i called her and produced a treat,she stopped to get her lead on and a very tired girl walked home like a star


I have decided that my neighbours and family all think i am mad and not one of them understood the pride i felt or the sheer pleasure i got from watching her enjoy every second of that run and i can't wait to get back there when Neo is fully fit to see them both have fun together.


The best new year's present i could have wished for....I will get on that beach walk soon ,Nora..

Ther is no better feeling when you see a grey run for the sheer pleasure and the joy on their face when they know they have done good by coming back to You. Well done on the patience and time you have spent training her and the feeling of pride when it all pays of. 


Hoping that you, Sally and Neo are on the beach with us soon. Nora

I agree with Nora - I love to watch our two run like mad and play chases with each other! It's a real pleasure to see them obviously enjoying their running for fun. Congratulations on training Sally to come back to you and let's hope it won't be too long before Neo can join in with Sally's running!

That must have been wonderful to watch.  It will be even better when her pal, Neo, gets to run with her.    I love watching mine run.

Isn't it the simple pleasures in life that give you the greatest happiness?  There is nothing better than sharing in the joy the greyhounds get when given the chance to really stretch their legs.  Now that we have Tigerlily, Indiana is having even more fun as there's finally someone who can keep up with him in the park!  I bet Neo can't wait to join Sally - now that's something to look forward to
