Does anyone have any tips/ideas on how best to clean the inside of Wilma's ears?  They are filthy and really need something doing with them!

Thanks

Sharon

The spanial we had had ears were prone to gunk. The vet recommend putting a few drops of saline solution in the ear then rubbing the ear. Finally cleaning around the outsides with some cotton wool

If they are REALLY REALLY dirty with black gunk you might need to check for mites? I just use my finger and a tissue to wipe out the bits I can see. Vernon loves gettin his ears done.

Don't know if its true but one vet told me not to use cotton wool as although it feels really soft to us, its actually very abrasive and rough on dogs ears?

I've always used baby wipes to clean my dogs ears, but agree with Jenny if they are really bad, i'd let the vet take a look

I use baby wipes for everything, ears , wiping off poo that Sasha has rolled in, cleaning their paws and they are also handy for wiping done the doughnut beds, the leather couches and numerous other doggy marks around the house. Do not get the ones with aloe vera in them they leave a residue and not as good as the normal ones.   Nora

Cant quite remember where we got them, but we got ear cleaning wipes. I think probably baby wipes would do the trick better, but the ear wipes are small and kind of get into the nooks and crannies. We also got face wipes, but they don't work so well.
