Hi Folks Last night for the 2nd time this week, we've had to rush Lulu straight from her walk to the vet, although this time it's a bit more serious. We took the dogs for a walk to Tyninghame beach as it was such a gorgeous day, Lulu and Sally were doing their mad racing around, there was a large branch sticking out a wee burn Sally saw it just in time and managed to jump clear, although she scratched her belly, Lulu didn't get a chance to see it and it stabbed her in the chest, right between her front legs, poor wee thing screamed her heart out, all we could see was the blood running out her chest, we have never been so terrified, we had to carry her nearly all the way to the car about a mile and a half away, thankfully the bleeding stopped before we got there. We rushed her to her vets in Musselburgh where they examined her, and had to knock her out to put stitches in, well at first they thought it was just a skin wound about 4 inches long, but it turns out, it has also gone through the muscle. Poor we thing was in agony last night, but she is so courageous and brave, didn't squeal when we put her in the car to come home, and she hardly uttered a sound all night, Tricia had to sleep beside her though, because she whimpered as soon as she moved away. It seems that we've never been away from the vets since we got her, she is so accident prone, maybe we should change her name to Calamity....

Poor Lulu Hope she recovers quicly. I remember when i first got Angus. I was never away from the vets because he was so accident prone. I swear to this day that the only reason my vet has a house in the south of France is due to the amount of vet bills I've had!
What a terrible fright you must have all got and so easy to happen. Hope Lulu recovers well and slows down a little so you have no more expensive trips to the vets. Nora

Poor baby, as discussed the other night i think we should start wrapping them up in cotton wool and make them wear goggles before leaving the house. When i had Willow at the vet the other day - she didnt know what to look at first, his cut paw, his bite wound on his shoulder, or his sore hip! They are so accident prone,. thank goodness for insurance! Hope she feels better soon and back to her cheeky self

Bluddy hell, that sounds terrible. You must have been terrified! She's one lucky girl to have come out of that one intact. I hope she gets back to full health very soon. We're all thinking of you.
Hi everyone, Thank you all for your good wishes and positive thoughts, they all appear to be working, we're just back from the vets and it looks like her wound is healing exceptionally well, no excess fluid and the bruising is going down already. We got a first proper look at her wound tonight with the dressing off, it's bigger than we thought and it looks so sore, but she has hardly made a fuss at all, it's taking us all our time to try to stop her tearing round the house, she has so much energy. Only thing now is how to stop her licking it, I thought there was no way she could get her tongue near it but she's like Houdini , we have discovered however that she can't get passed her house coat, so she'll be wearing it constantly till the stitches come out next week.
