My last (and only ) hound had the rather unfortunate name of "lose the belly"....which i think it conjures images of an overweight, slow thing...which was so far the truth!! Her home name of Lucy was much better!!!
Our lovely Belle had the racing name Ryefield Hanna, which is rather nice, i think, but young son, who got really into the Hannibal lecter films that were shown on tv recently, decided to rename her HannaBelle, while my nickname for her is Stinkerbelle, as she grabs mouthfuls of rabbit and horse doos when we are walking (too much information, I know), poor wee Belle.
we currently have Sunny's nephew in our care at Lothian Dogs Home in roswell, midlothian. We also had Mojo Lark ie Fleck last year (now known as tilly i believe) i loved that dog, if i'd heard she'd been dumped after we sold her i'd have bought her... anyhoo the dog we have just now's racing name is Arbour Rocket. his dad was larkhill jo. if anyone out there wants to give this boy a home get in touch.
LOL Phil and Amanda! Imagine calling a beautiful, refined boy like Blue, Potato! Lose the Belly takes a lot of beating, but Leaded Windows is something else. Do you think they've named these dogs by the first thing they see when they're born? I'm thinking Big Spade and Duffle Coat here, presuming the dogs are born in an outside kennel or barn!
I'm probably one of the few who know my lurcher's parentage. Vegas is a Han**** Lurcher and when he arrived at GAL, Dave and Glenda researched his parentage. His mother was a greyhound called Oi You! and his father was a bearded collie called Zebedee.
