Those of you who have met Indiana will vouch for how skittery he is! Unless it is a tried and tested route (at least six times on a walk before he is comfortable) or a place he knows well, Indiana will pull and veer either to head home or to head back to the car if we've driven somewhere. I only know that he was found abandoned wandering streets so my thought is that his previous owner drove him somewhere far and dumped him knowing that he wouldn't be able to get back. It does put me off varying our walks because he gives off the impression that he's trying to escape from me and I get a lot of funny looks It is also very sore on my arms! He always tries to work out which way is home and once he begins to recognise a street he is much more relaxed. He is a bit better now calm Tigerlily has joined us but any suggestions would be most appreciated. I have done a lot of heel work to no avail!
PS. Here is a photo taken today of him climbing into the back seat of the car having knocked down the dog grille. Tigerlily can't be seen because she is lying down like a good girl. Chalk and cheese...
We use a gentle leader with Harry and he walks as gently as a lamb. He used to pull like a train when we first got him but gradually calmed down over time.
Love that piccie of a very smiley Indiana. He looks very pleased with himself at making his bid for freedom!
