Not been around much on the forum for the last week as i have had a bit of a household disaster that's left me in a bit of a mess and the dogs really stressed. Around 9 pm last Sunday night my new neighbours decided to put a 3 inch nail into a 1 inch piece of flooring and managed to burst the main water pipe serving all the houses and flats in my building but as i am the only one who actually lives directly below them all the damage occured in my house. One minute i was happily ironing my son's school uniform and within 20 mins every room on both levels of my home (except the baby's room) was 3 inches deep in water!! The water poured through every part of the roof and all the light fittings exploded within the first ten mins there was so much of it. by the time the water supply was switched off from the street outside every carpet in my house and every bed was ruined and i am now left with holes in the roof in my lounge and 2 of the bedrooms!! What a mess.
in the middle of all the commotion i had to lift my baby out his cot and get him and my son, who was just out of the bath and in pyjama's out of the house and acroos the road to neighbours and the dogs were just traumatised with it all as well as they had to be got out quick because of all the broken glass and soggy roofs. I have had no electricity unti l today as it was too dangerous for it to be put back on until things had dried out again and i have only just been able to bring my children back to live with me now that i am getting somewhere with the clean up operation. I have stayed in the house sleeping on the only dry couch that's left for the sake of being here for the dogs and not having to stress them any more. Sally has come off the worst and i will fill everyone in on that once i have spoken to Siouxsie and Neo has a few cut pads from exploding light bulbs, Logan escaped any injury because i was at least able to carry him out and shield him in my arms...
positive thoughts from everyone would be appreciated because my brain has turned to mush with the noise from industrial dehumidifiers that are running in evry room to dry out the roof...i was hoping the new neighbours would be doggy people but i would have settled for them just being half decent at DIY!!
Hi Gail how horrendous for you all, it must have been a terrible experience I hope everything is back on track for you real soon and that Sally is OK. Nora

Oh Gail, what a nightmare. Hope you get everything sorted out and back to normal soon.
Your poor family! I cannot imagine the mess everything must have been in. At least with children, you can explain what's going on so I can imagine the poor dogs would be stressed out their heads. Hope they get settled again asap! Give them all a hug from us in Dunoon, especially poor Sally.
Your new neighbours are certainly not DIY fanatics are they!
My positive thoughts are definately being sent in your direction.
How awful, I really feel for you, dogs and wee children in all of that!! Hope everything is sorted very quickly, and that children and dogs and you have recovered from the stress. I'm sending lots of positive thoughts for you all! Fiona
OMG! That sounds really awful Gail. Hopefully ot wont be too long before you house is back to the home you know. I jut hope it hasn' traumatised the children and the dogs too much.
I know it's no consolation at the moment, but the children will be fine (they really bounce back from things, don't they?), and hopefully the hounds will too, once things settle back down!
One day you'll be able to look back at it all and laugh (though whether this will be amusement or slight hysteria who knows!?).
Gail, I don't know what to say except how awful. It sounds like it was very traumatic for you all not least the dogs.
Let's hope they have learned to leave stuff to the professionals in future. Is it dry yet? Will the insurance pay for damage? Let us all know how you are.
I really hope you get sorted out really soon if not already and let us know how the doggies are.
Thanks everyone for your kindness and concern. House is slowly drying out, still no carpets on the floors in a few of my rooms, no point replacing them until all the structural work is finished. Kids are just accepting it all but i have to admit to getting a bit fed up of the steady stream of workmen in and out the house!!
As for the dogs..well this is the post i hoped i'd never have to write. During the commotion of the flood i had to get the dogs out of the house and clipped their leads to the railings outside the house. Sally got really agitated with all the commotion and while i was putting the kids in a taxi to send them to my parents she got so stressed that she managed to get the clip loose and all three dogs were free. logan being the baby just ran to the nearest person (one of my neighbours who was helping me) for a cuddle but Neo and Sally went tearing past me and away up my road. I shouted after them both and Neo stopped, ran into the park opposite had a wee and came running back but sally nevr even turned round and just disappeared out of sight. My neighbour jumped in his van and went looking for her but she was no-where to be seen. i sat up all night watching out the window as well as walking the streets with Neo but i couldn't find her.
Have informed everyone, done posters and taken advice from Siouxsie and Dave ( thank you both). The police think someone has taken her in, but she had both her tags on and she is chipped and had her house coat on so it would have been obvious she is not a stray!!
Feel like i'm living in limbo just now, i miss my hot water bottle at night and i just can't settle to do anything except pace the floor and watch the windows. Will keep you all informed of any news!!
OMG if things couldn't be any worse, lets hope Sally is returned to you soon, I can't imagine how awful you must be feeling, sending positive thoughts for a happy reunion.

Oh, Gail, how terrible, my heart goes out to you. You must feel like you are in the middle of the worst nightmare. I pray that you are reunited with your wee Sally very soon, and find her safe and well. My very best wishes, Fiona
Gail - we're so sorry to hear about your latest drama - really hope and we have our fingers and toes crossed - Tilly has all her paws crossed - that Sally returns home safely very very soon.
Am glad the house is slowly drying out and can understand how awful it must be to have all these tradespeople in and out the house. Bit upsetting for Neo and Logan.
As for Sally, I am still truly hoping that you manage to find her. It must be horrendous for you, wondering where she has gone. I'm rooting for her to turn up with every fibre of my being.
Firstly i'd like to say how sorry i am to hear that Sally is missing. After reading this thread today, i got in touch with some contacts up Tayside way trying to help Gail and Sally be reunited. As you will know from previous posts, I myself have a few racing dogs at the moment which I plan to keep when they have retired. I know people from all different areas all over Scotland. As it happens, I have a contact who works within the police. I really hope you do not think i was treading on anyone's toes as I was only genuinely trying to help. The person I know within the police got in touch with police at the Dundee Police Headquarters at West Bell Street, Dundee, which in turn got in touch with the general Lost and Found Property which covers the whole of Dundee. From reading your post when your flood first happened, I came to the conclusion that Sally must have first gone missing on Sunday the 18th February. The police checked back all reports made to them of Lost and Found property from the beginning of February, but they did not seem to have any record at all of Sally having been reported as "missing" to them. As I assumed this must have been a mistake, they contacted the Local stray dog kennels at "Brown Street, Dundee". The people at the kennels seemed very helpful and checked back all their records of "lost" and "stolen" dogs back to the 1st of Febraury. They also had no record of Sally having ever been reported as missing to them. I feel really upset as I have spent a good few hours of my time this afternoon on the phone, trying to do what I thought best by helping to find out any information which may lead to Sally's safe return. I cannot understand how neither the Police or the stray dog kennels have no record of Sally ever having been reported missing. I get so upset when i hear a dog is missing and hope we hear of the whereabouts of Sally soon. Regards, Gill x
Our fingers, paws and everything else is crossed for Sally's safe return. You must be due some good luck now, surely! It's a horrible, horrible feeling. Dan ran away once just after we got him, got out at my mums house and just ran and ran. About 5 of us were running about on foot looking for him and 2 in cars. Finally after about an hour and a half someone phoned us, having got hold of him near a busy, fast road. I remember how awful it was so can't imagine what you're going through just now. And on top of everything else. I sincerely hope you find her and things start to get better for you and your family.
Sally has been found folks, no details yet except she is safe and well and will be home soon. Hope she recognises us!! Looks like Neo's stint as top dog is over
