Just to let you know that Toot, our beloved big golden boy, was put to sleep today. He'd been getting thinner & thinner and slightly more unsteady on his feet, but still liked to gambol about and lead you to the cupboard to ask for biscuits.
However, he slipped and fell today and badly broke his right hind leg, which would have taken a long time to heal for such an old boy (he was 13), so we sadly made the decision to have him put to sleep.
I was with him at the end, stroking him & cuddling him till he gently drifted off, no longer in pain, and I can't thank enough the vet & nurses at Condorrat vet surgery for their great help and kindness in what has been a heartbreaking day for us.
Oh how I feel for you! I know what it's like to lose a well loved friend and member of the family. My thoughts are with you. Toot was a lovely boy and a true gentleman!
So sorry to hear of your loss - it's always a difficult decision to make but you know when that decision has to be made. Am sure everyone on the forum will be thinking of you.
So very sorry to hear the sad news about your beloved boy. Take comfort from the fact you did the right thing by him and were there for him. Thinking of you at this sad time.
Sorry to hear about the lose of your beloved pet Toot. Take comfort that he had a happy life with you and you did the right thing for him when he needed it. Nora

So sorry to hear your sad news. You put his interests first right to the end, and bravely accepted your pain in order to do so, he could not have asked for more love than that. My thoughts are with you.
You're right, it certainly is the hardest time, and at this moment I really can't think that I'll ever be happy again. Daft I know, but it's really hard to put a smile on my face.
Macy's doing a good job and doesn't seem to have noticed much but she's bound to look for him soon. However, as she always stole his bed or stared at him until he got up and moved to a less comfy bed, maybe she's enjoying having the place to herself again.
So Sorry to hear of the loss of Toot. You made the right decision for Toot and thats what responsible owners do, no matter how much heart ache it costs you.
