We took all three dogs to the vet today for their annual jabs. As they were all going to get wormed too, they had to be weighed.
Dave and Daisy's weights haven't changed much since we got them.
However, Tom is altogether another story !! I mentioned, when we got him, that he looked all skin and bone. Last September he weighed in at 32.5kg. Tonite, he weighs 39kg !!!!! I checked with the vet that he isn't actually overweight and, tho Neil was horrified, the vet said he's just a big boy. He's certainly not fat so I won't be worrying about it but it was a surprise.
Family life must be suiting him and he must be contented, bless! Graeme (OH) put on weight too when his life settled down and he got contented - must be a guy thing (I wish)!
Thats very heavy indeed, i dont think i have heard of a greyhound that big He obviously likes his grub but there's nothing wrong with that Would be nice to see piccies of him
he is,most definitely, a big lad! his strength isn't obvious, as most of the time he's very laid back. when I put his harness on to take him to the vet it proved to be too small now. then he was leaping round like a loony and ended up tripping down the step out of the front door and sitting down! v funny to see- almost as if he'd surprised himself.
I will get some piccies done and put on here soon - I need to take some of him next to an object that will demonstrate his size. any suggestions as to what to stand him next to so you can all visualise his bigness? I suppose I could measure him from floor to shoulder and include that.

by the sound of it, a double decker bus should be about big enough!!!!! I think the big boys are the best! The bigger they are, the softer they are! Glad to hear that he's doing so well ..... he must be a very happy contented boy!

I don't think 39kg sounds that bad at all. Harry is around 35kg. He was skin and bone when we took him home and - just like Tom - he put on about 6kg in his first few months with us. Muscle weighs more than fat so Tom and Harry are just big strong muscle men!
I've heard of a male greyound weighing 42kg. In fact, isn't it one of the dogs on this forum? Possibly Morse? If anyone can remember then I'd love to have my memory jogged.
What a good memory you have Fiona - It was Morse who weighed in at 42kg!
There's a thread and video about him in the foster dog update section. He's now living in Stirling but I don't think his new owner uses the forum, unfotunately.

Wow, and I thought Mason was big at 34kg. He was just over 32kg when he came to me in August and has maintained at 34kg since about November. Last month when he was at the vet after hurting a leg it shot up to 36kg, the vet was dubious when I said it was probably because he had not been to the loo since the previous evening because he wouldn't walk on the leg and sure enough when we went back a few days later, his leg back to normal and toilet breaks as norm, he was back down to 34kg. Now that's what I call water retention
Oooooohhhh he is lovely. I love his face . He looks amazing compared to those very first photos you posted when he was still in Kennels. It just goes to show what a bit of TLC can do. Well done.

tom is my big hairy fella and i love him to bits! his coat is definitely thicker than dave or daisy's - dave being particularly follicly challenged around the trouser area! they all have their own special traits tho.
tom can be a bit grumpy, especially if he's snoozing, but daisy seems to be getting braver and those two often do the "chewing of heads" play thing, it's really funny to watch.
