To get the perfect show dog, you must breed a lot of puppies. The advantage of breeding show dogs is that you have a nice little earner from the sale of the pups you don't want. In this day and age you would think the KC could easily check up on the number of litters being produced from a bitch, at the same time you would think a check could be made on undesirable matings, (dogs closely related or dogs with known health problems) Could it be that the KC would not wish to miss out on the registration fee from litters they refused to register?
I'm a computer numpty, but a full blown geek could put something together that would highlight problems with breeders. The KC could employ outworkers to check the premises of those registering vast numbers of pups.
Ooops! I forgot, this lady was a kennel club judge, she would probably check her own premises and give herself a glowing report.

Hi

Unfortunately people think that by buying a Kennel Club registered dog the breeder must be reputible and the puppies will be "breed spec" - sadly this is NOT the case. Puppy farmers can still KC register their pups! Just because a dog has a "pedigree" doesn`t mean to say it is well bred - quite the opposite at times! Anyone who intends buying a puppy should go via the breed secretary who will inform them of breeders who are passionate about the purity of the breed and compassionate about breeding. There is far too much inappropriate breeding going on hence unsuitable pups being born with both temperament and physical defects.
There are many good breeders out there who despair at how "slack" KC registration actually is.

Sha
