Casper and I are walking the Great Glen Way over 6 days starting on Monday 7th May 2007 to raise funds for the Kennel Fund. The Great Glen Way is 73 miles from Fort William to Inverness - http://www.greatglenway.com
I am so amazed anyone would do such a hike! But I am so glad you are doing it for GAL so everyone - let's see what amount of funds we can raise! I'll be sure to let everyone I know to go and visit your site. And of course we will be excited to hear all about it upon your return (after some R & R I'm sure)!
I am getting worried now, everyone that I tell opens their mouth in horror - "on your own, not in a group!?" I have been assured that it is signposted and easy to follow, but I have to take compass and maps also - ha, that is a joke! Just you wait, I will end up walking double the distance because I'll be lost somewhere!
I will be keeping a diary so will update you all when I get back!
I was worried about Casper when I first thought of doing a walk, and I asked my vet who does long distance walking himself. He laughed at me and said I should be worrying more about myself as Casper will be fine. He's been fine training, so I am sure he'll do it no problem. It's me I think that will be blistered and sore!
Thanks to those who have sponsored me so far, I really appreciate it. And a big thanks to Linda for getting me sorted with sponsor forms etc! A lot of training to do and not that much time....its come round so fast..only 6 weeks to go! Jane

Good luck, Jane and Caspar! You're probably doing it at the right time of year, since these hairy wee beasties with huge teeth - the Highland Midges - may not be out in full force yet.
It's a wonderful thing to do and I really look forward to hearing all about it!
This time next week I will be in my B&B in Fort William ready to start the Great Glen Way the next morning. I am really looking forward to it. I haven't had as much time as I would have liked to train for this but I am hoping I have done enough.
I have a million and one things to do between now and sunday, so I will be glad when I am in Fort William and all the organising and juggling of things is over. Fingers crossed the weather is good, but not too good. Sun with a breeze is what I am hoping for!
Anyway, if you have any spare pennies or pounds please sponsor Casper and I
Just wanted to wish you and Casper a great week! I know you must be very busy so take care and we are all so anxious to hear about your trip when you get back! Hope everyone sponsored you as well!!!
Got home late on Sunday night and apart from sore legs, feet, knees, shoulders and some sun burn I feel great and really chuffed with myself and Casper. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had, the weather was great, the people I met along the way were all lovely, the B&Bs were excellent, Casper was an angel and the scenery was breath taking. Although I had some dark moments when I thought I might give up, the good certainly out weighed the bad and I learnt a lot about myself and Casper. I was also really touched that some complete strangers stopped to sponsor me and one bed and breakfast gave me two nights stay for the price of one so I could donate the rest of the money to GAL.
I am uploading some photographs to Flikr as I type so hopefully I will be able to post the link up later tonight. I've got a blog also but have still got to get it all sorted and uploaded.
I have also got to count my sponsor money and get the sheets from some of my family so I know my total raised. I will post that up as soon as I can too.
Thanks to everyone who sponsored me, it is really appreciated

Very well done, CJ and Caspar! Looking forward to seeing the photos and reading all about it! But it sounds as if both of you enjoyed yourselves as well as raising lots of money.
couldn't get Flickr working last night so here are some photos I've uploaded to photobucket. I will have the rest on my webspace once I get it all sorted.

What photo's and just your short intro on your event is just so inspiring! I'm so touched as well reading about the good folk to sponsor you and the B&B to help out! I am happy to hear of your adventure and look forward to the finer details and more photos!!
Well done to you and Casper!! It does make me think about doing something like the walk but it is in the DOING that may take awhile!
I got all my sponsor sheets back yesterday and have managed to raise £652.
It's at times like these that I wished I had a bigger family, worked in a bigger office etc! I am quite pleased with the amount, though obviously wish I could have raised more!
A HUGE thank you to everyone that sponsored me, it is really appreciated!!
