After many a discussion on here about why greys have bald thighs and many folk have no answer as to why it happens - my theory is, or at least it must be a contributing factor, is the condition/living area if the dog. ie soft beds, fur grows in, horrible kennel - bald thighs I know its not true for all dogs as some are spoilt rotten at home and still have bald thighs. This is Willow when i first got him,
What a fantastic difference. He is obviously thriving in all the tlc you and your pack are giving him. You know Phil and I can't look at the "before" pics of Blue now. At the time it didn't seem so bad but now we realise what a state he was in and how far he has come. All your hounds are a credit to you.

I remember when Blue first came into the kennels, looking at him and thinking poor dog! He was in an awful condition. His fur was all tufty and scabby He was also very skinny! When Phil brought me in that photgraph of him only a month or so later, i couldn't believe it was the same dog Just shows what a bit of TLC can do for them. Well done to you taking Blue You got any pics of before/after?
Vernon's have started to bald again and he sleeps on TWO duvets. Don't think thats too kennel like so I can't blame the lack of comfortable facilities.
I had a strange lady talking to me at the can collection. She insisted they had bald thighs due to getting injections in their bums all the time. She looked at Vernon's bald thighs and said 'Oh he must have had a lot of injections did he'? Quite bizarre I thought.

Well, I know Wills is not technically a greyhound - not even close, but if it was to do with injections then he should have a bald neck. He gets an injection every day and he's as hairy as ever!
That is a weird one about injections I've never heard of that!
Isla - poor Wills having to have an injection everyday He's lucky to have you, im sure a lot of owners couldn't be bothered with that! You'll be checking everyday for bald patches on his neck now after that womens comments
Nah, if he aint' bald after three years and four months worth, I reckon we're pretty safe!
It's been pretty rotten for him though. He's very patient and good about it. He knows that his routine includes a jab before he gets his breakfast and stands and waits for you to get it over and done with. Considering my needle phobia - he's very brave!
Hi, Dexter has baldy thighs again after the hair regrowing after we rehomed him, he sleeps on a quilt also. I think the reason his have gone baldy again might be to do with a summer moult Anyway after the description of other peoples dogs thighs following my thread I see them in a completely different light now
