Eating stones?
Permalink Closed

We have a bit in the garden that is small smooth gravel/pebbles. I noticed Sunny the other day licking the stones and eating them. I shouted at her and she stopped and I thought perhaps Alix had dropped food or crumbs. I've just caught her doing it again?
Anyone got any idea why she is doing this. I know animals sometimes eat soil etc if they are lacking some nutrients....but stones?

I'm only letting Sunny in the garden when I am there at the moment in case she does it again.

no idea why Sunny does this but I wonder if it runs in the family.......Daisy does it too !!!!

we have bits of stones, gravel and concrete in the garden and Daisy often runs in with bits in her mouth. she hasn't quite worked out that if she saunters in nonchalantly, we won't notice but she runs from the back door to her bed at such a fast rate of knots, it's obvious she's been up to mischief !

do let us know if you find out why they do it.
