Rag started her dog training this evening and did OK. She did not bark her head off or snap at the other dogs and was in general well behaved giving me attention when asked, pulling on the lead a fair bit. Drum roll please she was the only pup to pooh in the hall,YAHOO!!!!! WE HAVE A BREAK THROUGH. Looking forward to the next few weeks (not the poohs) to see how she progresses. LOL Nora

What Nora failed to mention is the poo was half the size of Rag!!! Mason was v. impressed, by that time in the evening he can never produce anything that big Mason also did pretty well at the class yesterday. Once he got over the shock of discovering one of the trainers was his favourite vet nurse and had made sure he leaned on everybody for hugs he settled quite well. He showed little interest in the other dogs, except Rag who is obviously 'one of us' and showed a lot of patience as myself and the trainer made attempts (unsuccessful of course) to teach him to sit, while he displayed his amazing talent for walking backwards - future dance star possibly? Its early days yet but the emphasis in the class is about having fun and there's no pressure put on the dogs to perform so I'm happy. Marie
Glad they had fun at dog training Millie loved it when i used to do agility with her but it was too far to travel each time and the cost of the class wasn't cheap either! Rag was maybe just nervous if it was her first class and felt the need to go hopefully she won't do it everytime
Hmm wonder how many others will 'perform' next week after little rag's demonstration of what training classes are really all about - causing your owners as much embarrassment as possible
I am going to try and get to the class on Wednesday, can anyone tell me what I should bring (apart from Cara and some sick/poo bags) I've never been to anything like this before? Cara is going through one of her 'size zero' fads so I'm not sure what treats I can bribe her with, any ideas?
Apparently warm hot dogs or any warmed up meat is meant to best (saw it on Me or the Dog ). Not sure what this class recommends but most say to take a blanket if your dog doesnt like lying on the floor. Marie or Nora should be able to tell you if they provide water etc? Good luck with the class.

Thanks Landess, this is the dog that only eats roast pork/beef/chicken and doesn't always eat that I think it may be the rest of the class that need the good luck, I'll try not to cause too much disturbance. Cara needs to learn to be a dog, maybe school will be the making of her! my oh thinks she is spoilt, I think she's just different! Anne
Willow is quite fussy when it comes to treats although he wolves his tea down As treats, for practising recall outside, i use food called greyhound mix. You can buy it in big sacks from "Drum Feeds Store" near Danderhall, Midlothian. I think some breeders/trainers use it as a complete food but i only use it for treats. Its pretty minging - bits of dried beaks and feet etc of chicken but the dogs love it Its worth a try
"beaks and feet"...that might just interest Mason, he is so fussy he rejects one in two pigs ears as not crunchy or hairy enough Hope we'll see Cara tonight Marie
