I would like to introduce you to the new arrival. I say unexpected as I have never wanted a puppy in a million years as I know from other peoples experience how much hard work they are....and yes by goodness she is!! However shes just so cute that I cant give her up so shes here to stay. So here is Bella.
She is about 3 months (ish) and has major attitude. She gets on ok with judy and shane apart from when she plays very rough and shes had a few nips from both of them since her arrival. House training is now fine. However the biting on our hands, bare feet, ankles, arms, legs, hair anywhere exposed really is not fun. I say she has attitude as every time she gets a telling off she lets out a huge bark like a stroppy teenager being told off. What a madam!!
yeah shes a lurcher all right, looks like one of her parents has been a greyhound but no idea what else, she is very scruffy and her adult coat is coming through very wirey. The vet thinks possibly wolfhound/deerhound judging by her size.
WOW she is a looker! no wonder you kept her. Lurchers are so much fun, you just have to see past their little idiosyncrasies, (hope the spelling is ok) Cara mouthed lots when she was wee, I can't remember when she stopped, but she did eventually.
Don't want to sound like a traitor here, but seeing as how you are looking for advice, and I do think lurcher owners need all the help they can get you should have a look at www.lurcher.org, which I must confess to lurking around! Lots of good beginners stuff, and lots of experienced owners with solid advice, in my opinion. I think it may be a good thing if your two dogs are keeping her in line, and it may be they will show her the ropes etc., - good lurchering!! Look forward to lots about Bella
Bella is beautiful - and looks exactly like Dixie! Her nature sounds the same too - a little minx in the making! Congratulations to you on your unexpected little treasure and I look forward to hearing about all her adventures.
