Awww, I'm thoroughly delighted to hear that Scooby is home again, where he belongs. I've been thinking about him loads over the past few days since he had to have another op.
Here's to loads more improvements as the days go by. Well done, gorgeous boy!
It's so good to see Scooby home and enjoying all the comforts he has there! Hope he continues to improve and it certainly looks like he's taking the vet's advice of rest seriously. Get well soon, big handsome boy!
Got back from the vets at 12:07am this as Scooby had to be rushed back in as his leg exploded & was pumping blood out !!! Mum & i had to wrap towels around the leg to stem the blood flow !!
Vet has kept him in & is going to work on his leg again in the morning ! I only had him at the vets yesterday afternoon for his check up & for his bandage to be changed too !! When is this nightmare going to end !!!!
Phoned the vets at 8:30am this morning & the vet said he had a comfortable night & theres no more blood ! She can't understand why this happened & how it happened. Going to pick him up at 10:00am & fingers crossed he is going to be ok.
Also taking Mia my oldest Greyhound who is 9 as she is staying overnight to get xrays & blood tests done in the morning. She doesn't look happy in herself, is not eating & is dropping weight as if theres no tomorrow ! She is very bad on her legs too & often loses her balance.
I can tell you it never rains but pours in house this last 6 weeks !!

What a nightmare for Scooby and you. It does seem to be never ending. When dogs injure themselves, we do the best by them, getting them vet treatment, tlc etc. When they dont recover as well as we expect, we just keep going. I like many in GAL, have been faced with this heartbreaking situation, my heart goes out to you. To add to all this poor Mia isnt keeping well, I fortunately only had one ill dog at a time to contend with, so cannot imagine how much strain you feel at this time. With all the care you have given your dogs and the positive thoughts being sent your way, I hope and pray Scooby and Mia will be back to health soon. Thinking of you all. Hugs to Scooby and Mia for a speedy recover xxx
Thanks for your kind replys, it is very comforting.
Well Scooby came home yesterday morning no worse for wear ! The vet is baffled how this 'explosion' happened. The only thing they can think of is it could of been a huge clot that erupted & it could only come out through the holes in his leg which is holding the metal cast that is screwed into his leg.
He is to go back for a quick check up on Friday & then back again on Monday for a slight sedation to xray his leg again.
I picked Mia up last night as she had her xrays & bloods taken. I shall know more when the blood results come back on Friday.
So will let you know whats what on Friday about her.

Sorry to hear things went downhill for Scooby again, but here's hoping he is definitely on the mend this time. Good luck for Friday, with Mia too. Such a worrying time. Thinking of you.
Scoobys check up went well yesterday, he had his dressing changed & was a star. He has to go abck on Monday morning for xrays to be sure that the pin is still in one piece in his leg. The vet Jane is determined to do whatever she can to save his leg & have him back to full health even if 'it kills me' in the words ! Fingers crossed that it is :) :)
Mia - Her blood results all came clear. The vets are baffled & don't know what is wrong with her. They measured her heart xray & said her heart is a little enlarged but theres nothing to be concerned about at all. So they have put her on a course of strong steriods to see if they will make a difference, if its the case that they will they will reduce her to a lower dosage. The course runs for 8 days so they will reassess her then. So fingers crossed that the steriods will do the trick. They ahve warned me that the side affects will make her eat more, make her drink more & make her pee more often too. This is not bad in my eyes as she is needing to do all of this more often anyway.
So yeah thats all the news for now.
Will keep you all updated with whats going on.

Just caught up with all your ups and downs with Scooby and Mia.
Will be keeping everything crossed that all the news you receive will be good news from now on and that we hear on Monday that Scooby's pin will still be in place and that the steriods do the trick for Mia.
