You may have seen Dave's appeal for an urgent foster home for Captain's kennel mate - Penny. She arrived in our home today!!
It didn't take her long to find a comfy place to lie and have a little nap. She was quite puzzled when she heard dogs barking on the TV and decided to have a wee look behind to see where the dogs were!!
Took her a few attempts to try the stairs, but she soon got the knack. She looked rather surprised that she could see another dog and another me looking back at her in the wardrobe mirrors!!
It was our turn to be surprised when we saw her in the sitting positiong quite a few times!!
And of course she discovered the nice big soft human bed that just is so inviting!
So far she has taken to home life very easily and is lapping it up.
Will keep you posted on her progress in her foster home with her foster brother Max, who has made her very welcome.
Penny's lovely. It sounds like she's taken to life at home like a quacksplash (duck to water!) She couldn't be in a better place. Let us know how she's getting on. Big hugs to her and Max!
Wow she's stunning She looks like she's settled in right at home with you Max will no doubt be enjoying the doggy company too. Hope to hear more about her soon x
Penny has been with us for 3 weeks already. She is now house trained and only had a few accidents. She likes gathering things around the house so we can't find them, especially our shoes and slippers! She now responds to her name and we've started clicker training. She is still learning that our food is not her food but does respond to 'no'. The first week she refused every night to budge off our bed to let us get into it, so had to be lifted off! Now she knows its out of bounds till daylight, then her and Max descend on our bed so we can't move!! She is inquisitive and takes interest in new household items she hasn't seen before and watches things we do. She plays with toys, and Max even lets her take his toys off him without a grumble! Needless to say she is totally enjoying home life. Last but not least, the delightful wee girl is an absolute cuddle monster with us and with Max.
She is going in for her neuter op this Wednesday, so fingers crossed it goes well.
Her favourite resting position (which never fails to make us giggle as we've never had a regular roacher before now)
The 'Whats that' picture is beautiful, she is a stunner. It was also nice to see her and Max snuggled up together on the sofa. (Max has a beautiful shine on his coat). I think you may have a few problems separating these two when Penny finds her forever home!! Keep the pictures coming.
She was very sorry looking as she went into the vets yesterday morning with tail between the legs and tried to follow us out to leave (making me feel bad - but needs must!).
She was 'spaced out' in the early evening when we collected her, and didn't even look at us and she just went through the motions (but we knew it was the after effect from the anaesthetic and the trauma of having a bit removed - so we didn't take it as personal!!).
She's still subdued today but not so much as yesterday. She is eating well, taking a bit more notice, enjoying cuddles, and thankfully taking it easy.
We're looking forward to her being her bouncy self again when she's well on the way in the healing process.
So glad Penny's op went well and hope she's getting a bit better every day! She's lovely, Lita and John - a real credit to you, in fact. It's particularly great to see her snuggle up to Max and I'm delighted that she's taking to home comforts like a duck to water! I just love her expression in the last photo. Give pretty Penny and handsome Max big cuddles from all of us!
