Can I Be Of Use To Anyone??
Permalink Closed

Hi Everybody

I'm not sure if this is in the right section but here goes. I've always wanted a greyhound (or two as I'm reliably informed they're better in pairs) ever since I met a fantastic pair a few years ago. Trouble is I live in Glasgow, and work full time in Ayr, so it really wouldn't be fair or practical to have one. cry

My point is, is there anyway I can be of help to GAL? I know I can't really start to be picky but I'd love to be able to do something with the dogs themselves, especially the ones in kennels that can't get all the attention they need. As I can't have one of my own it would kind of be the next best thing. Is there anyway to do this or is that something that the properly experienced folk should be doing?confused

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

I know that every week there are members of GAL at Bothwell Cat and Dog Home on a Saturday. Contact Linda or Ambers Mo by private message for more info. It is a good chance to spend time with the greyhounds or lurchers looking for a home and chat to people about the wonderful nature of these dogs. Some people also take the dogs to some of the larger events that GAL organise to try and find them homes. Linda is often on the look out for people to do this so keep an eye on the forum for that info.

Good luck!

Hi Kermischocolate,

Your help would be much appreciated by GAL and the hounds.  If you're not sure how to send a 'pm', just e-mail Linda, our volunteer co-ordinator:  Linda@gal.org.uk    As Alexis says, often volunteers are required to take homeless hounds from kennels to events and look after them during the event and show them off!  We have regular events/walks where you could drop by to meet volunteers, greyhounds, and owners.  (details of events are on GAL's main website under the icon 'Fund Raising events').

Also, just to say (cos you say you live in Glasgow) GAL has many dogs in the Kennels in Langbank if this would be nearer to you, and they are also looking for volunteers to give the greys a walk.  As anyone will tell you, they are so gentle, they are a joy to walk - go on give it a shot - you will love them!biggrin
