Safe/Enclosed spaces for dogs near Edinburgh?
Permalink Closed

Has anyone got any reccomendations for a safe place to let Django off his lead near Edinburgh? Ideally it would be a fully enclosed space somewhere.

Our garden is pretty big but not quite big enough.

Hi, I am still trying to find the very place in Edinburgh, I will let you know if I ever come across somewhere fully enclosed.

Inverleith Park is not too bad, one or two holes in the fence but usually lots of other dogs to play with as a distraction and the area the dogs can run in is massive.

We had Django at Inverlieth on Monday night. I wouldn't feel safe letting django run around there, he would get spooked too easily I think, but cheers for the suggestion.

The park in Dalmeny Street is completely enclosed with gates at either end.
Unfortunately Mason aka Houdini worked out how to open the gates and became a total liability there so I would advise a second pair of eyes with you, but if Django's sole purpose in life is not to escape he may enjoy itsmile

Zetland Park in Trinity is completely enclosed. You pay about £25 a year as a subscription and get a key for the gate to let yourself in and out. It also has the advantage that you can see the whole park from the gate and so can check for squirrels, cats and other dogs before letting your grey off the lead.

More expensive but the Dean gardens is really lovely.  Unfortunately it does have squirrels and lots of wee dogs.  Around £100 per year.

I thought you had to live in the area to apply for keys to the private gardens, is that not the case?
I'd happily pay for an enclosed space for Masonsmile

No although it's situated near Anne Street they let the other riff raff in (like me and Jacky). It's actually a lovely garden and there's alot of other dogs with "issues" but you need to ensure that your dog is under control and on lead if need be etc. Joining instructions are on a sign next to the entrance near Anne Street.
Beware though squirrels and wee dogs.

Cheers, I'll check it out. Wee dogs don't bother Mason and the muzzle should stop squirrel carnagesmile
