ACP advice needed.

 We are away saturday the vet has given us ACP  for Bovril to take as the journey will be a least 5 hours, am looking for advice as to whether this stuff is ok .we are to give him one 10mg tablet tomorrow to see how he reacts to it ,and if strong reaction then a half tablet Sat morning . has anyone used this before  for this reason? . thanks denise

It will have a sedative effect but not as much as say Diazepam/Valium would.
The vet I work for normally gives this to older animals for the simple reason it is safer than the others. And its a fairly low dose aswell.
Dogs I have seen that get this as a premedication before an anaesthesic are not particularly sleepy just more 'chilled out'. smile
