I'm sure most of you would have probably signed this petition and got this link sent by email too but thought I'd post the government response on here for anyone who missed the actual petition.

Just received it myself. I am encouraged to see mention of tracks which are independent of the NGRC in the response.
Are GAL involved in the consultation? I also wonder if this is an issue which should be raised with the Scottish Parliament to try and establish whether Scotland is able to introduce legislation separate of Westminster?

I wondered if we would be able to debate this, as the petition vanished from the GAL site for political reasons, which I fully understand.

The first proposal is that The NGRC changes its name. This reminds me of the big Foot and Mouth fiasco. When it was all over they changed the name of MAFF to DEFRA presumably so no-one would connect the two departments. DOH!!

Having said that, is NRGC a cosy club? I remember seening a programme some years ago about Willie Carson ( the champion jockey) and the Jockey Club. There was Willie, worth millions, in the weighing in room calling people "Sir". It's so out of date. Does anyone know who are the top dogs (sorry!!) at NGRC?
