Some of our Shelter Dogs
Permalink Closed

We had a power cut yesterday which meant it was diffiuclt to get much office work done. This gave me the perfect excuse to sit out in the sun and take some snaps of our hounds!!
Tori (galgo/podenco cross) is thwarted from stealing a mug in the kitchen

Undeterred he pinches a lemon of the tree instead!!! This lovely boy leaves us in 2 weeks for a new life in Holland.

Lady and Kiri (our two resident pooches) fight over who gets to sunbathe in the cement mixing bucket!

And it is all too much like hard work for Purdy (homed to Katie and Trica) as she sunbathes on her blanket.

We work with two charities in Holland. Our main support and most of our Dutch homings are through PAWS Holland. This is a team of people who find homes for our dogs for us. They don't have a shelter, the dogs go directly from our shelter in Spain to their new homes in Holland. Rita (who runs PAWS NL) has a network of foster homes available to her in case a homing does not work out and a dog is returned. She then rehomes them from the foster home.
The other charity we work with is Greyhounds in Need NL. They take virtually all our greyhounds for us. Again, the dogs go straight from our shelter to their new home in Holland. Greyhounds in Need have a large plot of land with what can only be described as a greyhound luxury pad and they occasionally hold dogs there until they are picked up by the new families. So sorry Rachel, there is no Dutch shelter to visit!
We also home small numbers of dogs to Germany (only maybe 10 a year) and the UK (only 6 to date largely because of how long the paperwork takes).

What a great network! It's amazing to think how well-travelled dogs can be now. All your dogs look great. Don't fancy Tori's owners chances of keeping up with the thieving though! I haven't managed to stop Indiana "no item too large to nick" Jones...
