You can tell from the amount of replies on the forum that everyone is rooting for Dev and we all just hope that he will be found safe and well.

Hi folks,No news I'm afraid,Kathleen and I went out this morning to Sighthill and scoured the cemetery,we looked in every nook and cranny,we looked around the flats, houses,
shops as far as the eye could see I even took my binoculars just in case. The weather was foul and it suits the way I feel grey and depressed,we kept calling his name,we saw loads of black dogs but no Dev,we talked to dog walkers in the cemetery and they have seen the posters and Jacqui out and about with Annie and will phone if they see Dev.All we can do is wait for another sighting and hope and pray he's safe somewhere.

Rachel.

Saturday 22 Dec 4.30pm

Hi Everyone,
Just back home after a 4 hour search for Dev. Started at 12.30pm was on a scooter so could get into some of the more inaccesible areas. Searched

Sighthill Cemetery,
the Sighthill high flats Estate off Springburn Road / Pinkston Road
Costco Springburn Rd
Tesco Springburn Road
Food Industrial Estate off Keppochhill Rod / Pinkston Road
Sighthill Park - Pinkston Road
Cowlairs Park
Possil
Port Dundas
Spierswharf

No sightings - but it's a big area with lots of derelict / wild ground where a hound can go to ground - only appearing to get food. Quite a bit of food here and there.
There are lots of 'green' links from that area. Desgnated by council as wildlife corridors eg Forth & Clyde Canal etc. Dev could travelled along such a route in search of food.
Thinking back to the search for greyhound Maggie in Helensburgh. She moved out of the built up area - found a source of food. She returned each day to the spot. GAL was noted of her sghting. She was then found close to the food source and 2 days later was captured by a large group of GAL Volunteers etc.
If Dev has found a food source he won't be far from it.

Recent sightings are the key.

Charles

I've been out twice now. Late at night on Wed and between 4 and 7 on Fri. No luck and noone has sighted him. Everyone has been really helpful though which is good when it's dark in a graveyard and you've got an overactive imagination... Going to Costco today so will let hubby do the shopping and I'll scout the area behind costco as have not tried there yet. I'm racking my brain to think of source of food areas now.

Sunday 23 December 7.30pm

Hi Everyone,

I spent 1.5 hours looking for Dev in old railway ground that runs from Tesco Springburn Road eastwards. It also south of the large Springburn postal depot.

The area close to the Tesco access road opp petrol sation is thick gorse type bushes. Ideal for a hound to hide in. Lots of litter / take away trays etc. Some chewed by foxes etc This leads omward to overgrown former railways sidings - about 80 plus metres wide. It dense silver birch , bushes etc etc. Very difficult to see a black dog in. Also lots of sleeper piles with lots of undercover spots to hide up. Also an old pedestrian tunnel - too dangerous to enter without a torch. So plenty of shelter.

It's an ideal spot to hide up but stll close enough to sources of food. Trouble is its a difficult spot to search as a hound could lie low. double back etc. Only way would be to 'drive' it with several people in line with dogs used to rough ground. Also people to kkep eye out to see if Dev braks cover.

So if you have a few hours over the next few days and want to get some fresh air - get over to Sighthill cemetery , Sighthill Multi Flats, Costo , Tesco etc. Take a lead slip collar and lots of smelly food.

We desperately need a new recent sighting so we can home in.

Charles

If any new sighting is reported (wishful thinking), would be good for it to be posted here as soon as possible, so perhaps a flood of volunteers could go out at the same time. Will keep checking here every day for any news.

Please show yourself Dev.

Haven't been on the forum for a while, so I've just caught up with this.  What a worry! Everything's crossed here that Dev is found soon. I know what I'll be wishing for this Christmas.

Tuesday 9.50am

Happy Christmas Everyone,

Another few days and still no reported sightings of Dev. Was out in Sighthill for over an hour after work yesterday before it got dark No sign!

Went out later at 9.00 for a couple of hours. It was a a frosty moonlit night - but no signs of Dev. Saw a fox searching the COSTCO for scraps.

But only one fox, two snipe and no stray dogs. Not much to show.

It is very possible that Dev as moved - assuming he has made it through this cold weather.

Keep a look out.

Charles

Will keep my fingers crossed lots of people pitch in for a search today and find our boy.

Hi Everone,

I took a break from the serach for Dev on Christmas day. I spent two hours on Boxing Day - 1.00 till after 3.00 pm looking for him.
I had my lurcher Mick with me. I was searching rough ground to the east to Tesco Springburn. Mick was a bit slow when trying to work out what he was supposed to be doing. However he did get the hang of it And serched the area. He sped off into the thick under growth. Let my ming think it might be Dev. Though Mick had got lost but he'd come upon an guy walking his staffie. We hada good chat - he's not seen a greyhound.
Soif Dev had been at that location at that time Mick would have found him.

No sign in COSTCO / Tesco carparks or in the Cemetery.

Hi Charles

Good to know that you are out there searching as frequently and to get updates (even if it's not particularly good news)!

If I can get away at the beginning of next week and next weekend, I'll be up for a walk about. I don't know Glasgow particularly well so will need to go with someone or get good directions. I'll PM you if I can help out or arrange something with Rachel - need to co-ordinate my ferry crossings though.

Thursday, 27 December 2007

Hi - I have just received a couple of calls regarding a potential sighting of a dog resembling Dev in the Bishopbriggs area.

A dog was seen yesterday afternoon - Wednesday, 26 December - before it got dark, going in & out of gardens around the area of Brackenbrae Avenue, Bishopbriggs. The lady that called had seen the editorial in the paper, along with the ongoing advertisements and believes that it might be the same dog. Her husband has reported the sighting on to the local police station.

So, just a re-cap:

Dev went missing around 11 a.m. on Sunday, 9 December and was last seen in the George Square area, Glasgow City Centre

Dev sighted Wednesday, 12 December in Sighthill area - cemetry & park.

Dev sighted around Wednesday, 19 December in Sighthill area - cemetry.

Between 11 December and present day, many people out looking in Sighthill area, but to no avail.

Potential sighting - Bishopbriggs - mid-afternoon, before getting dark: Wednesday, 26 December.

Iluska

I was brought up in Bishopbriggs, and Brackenbrae Avenue is on a direct route from Springburn.

Please let it be Dev and let's hope that someone takes him in soon and gives us a call.

There's a good park directly behind Brackenbrae Ave as well. It's not too big for searching either and very handy for back gardens. I'll give it a search tonight.

If anyone can join me I'd appreciate it because I'm not too keen on being out by myself. Hubby on Christmas night out. PM me with your mobile number and I'll check my messages before 5 and get back to you. I'll be in Bishopbriggs for 8.
