Hope to get out again soon, had a vet emergency last night with a very poorly dog to care for,did not get to bed /sleep at all and have not been to bed yet!!I'm worried about the weather it's so miserable.Dev is proving to be quite a challenge,he's very resourceful,he's obviously finding food and water, and he must be getting some sort of shelter,I wonder if he was a free range reared puppy in Ireland.?Thanks to all who are helping, we should all try and get together and go out in numbers like the hunt for Maggie.Of course we need another sighting first.

Rachel.

I've contacted a shepherdess in the Milton of Campsie area asking her to keep her eyes peeled for Dev as she spends a lot of time out on the hills. I've also sent her a poster and asked her to speak to friends and colleagues in the area too.

Julie will speak to the local farmers and local shops.

Some guy found a black hound and called Milton, stating that it was a lovely dog,he said he would leave his details on mon.the31st.Milton do not take details/phone nos, etc,he has not contacted police or Milton(again)I don't think, this came to light this morning when I spoke to Linda, could the dog be our missing Dev????what are the chances of more than one black grey being out there at the same time and place, I think this report of a guy finding a dog was between xmas and new year. Why the hell has he not at least let the police know, why hasn't he tried to find the dogs owners gggrrrrrrr it's so frustrating, still going ahead with the search on Sunday,Eddie can't join us as we have dogs going to the walk, but I know we have a few people going out.furious.giffurious.giffurious.gif

Aaaaaaaaargh! Talk about letting leads go cold!!!!! furious.giffurious.giffurious.gif

WTF!!! furious.gif

If all the rescue centres are aware that there's a major hunt on for a missing dog, WHY OH WHY can't they take details and pass them on??? How hard would that be and at least there would have been a number for someone to follow up the lead. He could have been home safe and sound by now!!! rage.gif

Why has it taken so long for this information to become public??? Again, it's an opportunity lost. hmm.gif

it really annoys me when people do that.

its one of my pet hates, i always lose the head with folk that call up saying they found a dog so many weeks or months ago and they dont want it anymore... i had to have the phone taken off me once because i was going mental at someone who found a baby lab and kept it for 5 weeks without telling the police or rescue places and only just decided she didnt want it! i couldnt believe her.

Tried to look up the tattoos of the Black Dog handed in to the police, they do not come up,but if I remember correctly the letter D is the letter of the year of his birth(Irish tattoo)which would mean he was born in I think 2005,a call to the Irish stud book would tell who he is.He's probably been flapping and tossed for being no good or lame,or both poor dog,Gretna and a couple of other places race on Fridays, maybe he's been dumped on the way from one of the tracks, and no I don't give many people the benifit of the doubt I know the racing game.Hope a rescue or someone can take him in.hmm.gif

Helen can you let me know if the black dog handed in on Saturday is at your kennels as the police have no record of him in their system,as I said in my message to you the tattoos you gave me are for a brindle bitch who is running at Belle View.I'd like to check this black male out for a friend of mine.?

Thanks Rachel.

Hi there,

Sorry if this has already been suggested - there are a couple of good local papers in the Kirkintilloch area - they have online sites too. Would it be an idea to send the photo's to them? The fact that so many volunteers have been out searching would give them a news line - they might be more likely to run the pictures with the story.

Hi Everyone,
Keep up all of the good work. Keep on searching!. If anyone has any new ideas post them on the Forum. We all need encouragement to go forward.
If we don't find Dev there are other ghounds and dogs to be found.

Have just found out that Cardonald have two black Greyhounds one of which has some white. They seem doubtful that one is Dev as they think they came from same home, but said to me it's worth a look. No point in me going over as I have only ever seen Dev on poster and don't know tats, so told them I'd try to contact someone who knows more about him to try to identify or not. Have phoned GAL no, but no-one there so had to leave a message and don't have any other phone nos to contact. Help!

Got a phone message from Iluska. SSPCA Cardonald had contacted her and unfortunately tats don't match. Knew it was a very small chance, but despite that you get your hopes up. So disappointing! So sad! Hope Dev is in somewhere warm just now.

Have continued to phone Cardonald and Milton each day they are open and have new dogs coming in. No news on Dev from there. A couple of weeks ago happened to speak to guy at Cardonald who goes round police stations collecting strays and he said he knew exactly dog he was looking for as they have poster and would contact GAL immediately should likely dog turn up. Like everyone else I've spoken to there he was very sympathetic and said not to give up hope. Really the only positive thing is that Dev seems to have a high profile in these places - it just requires him to turn up!! Perhaps someone has taken him in.
