Cara had her babies tonight. I had phoned the vet at 3.30pm to say she had started pushing and how long did they want me to leave it before I contacted them, they said to call back at 5.30 if nothing had shown. At 5.30 I was about to call the vet when the doorbell went, David answered the door, it was the local school kids singing 'Away in a manger' Caras waters broke as they started singing and the first pup was out before they had finished. She had a pup about every 30mins. Boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl, girl. 7 active pups, and one very sleepy but contented mum. Milk bar open and all feeding.
Oh what a great Christmas story, and what a good mum. Can't wait to see photos, seven puppies in the house, I'm almost jealous - I know it aint all fun! Congrats Marie and Mason
Believe it's eight pups now,one of my girls had seven boys and I named them after the magnificent seven,Well done Cara and Daddy and of course Granny oh so proud two legs.!
Make that 9 puppies, one arrived at 4am. 5 girls and 4 boys.Mum and puppies eating,s******g and sleeping well. Mum had steak at 4.30am and chicken at 8 and more steak at 9, she's drinking fine and has been out for a P. Smallest pup was 320g biggest 470g. They are all soooooooooooooo cute all have white splash on chest, some have lighter brindle than others through their coats most have a few white toes and some have white tip on tail. Cara did not want to be alone during the births, she was happier when everyone was with her in the kitchen and is chuffed to bits when visitors arrive to see her and pups. Cara has been great with the pups (cleaning up gunk and stuff) she seems very relaxed about the whole thing, although she is VERY sleepy, and likes to just feed her pups while we hand feed her and bring her water to her.
