Hi, I recently meet some lovely people at GAL can collecting day and hope that you could help me to rehome my own dog Bailey. I adopted him 6 weeks ago and he settled in fine on most counts, but does not get on with one of my other dogs. He is about 2 1/2 years old but he is a big boy! He gets on fine with the other dogs but I think that he and Dali are both wanting to be 'top dog'. Dali growls at Bailey when he lies too close and today this escalated right out of control and ended up in fisticuffs.
I have 2 young children, 3 other dogs and a cat and he gets on fine with all of them.
I came to GAL because I don't want Bailey to be passed pillar to post. He is a lovely, friendly boy who needs to be shown the ropes. It's not his fault Dali wont give him a break but I'm too scared of this happening around the kids and really need to find him somewhere else to stay pretty quick.
Just to clarify that Bailey was not a GAL dog but from a Cat & Dog home and unfortunately, most cat & dog homes aren't able to retake a dog back should issues arise later after the 7 day window. It is nice to hear our GAL volunteers were so nice to talk to at the can collection day!
It is such a sad affair when there are so many greyhounds looking for homes... never enough homes to go around.
