Well I am back in the world of modern technology having had a week off work and not having internet at home (can't get it out in the sticks where I am). I had a surprise house guest over new year in the form of poor little Bramley. An 8 month old Ibizan Hound who was so weak he could barely lift his head. I got an SOS call from one of the vets in the area who knows I am a soft touch for these dogs asking if I had room at my house for a sick pooch. This poor dog was in a dreadful state, one of the most emaciated beasts I have seen for a long time. Anyway he was with me for 9 days before moving on to a foster home once he was well enough. It was touch and go for a few days whether he would make it or not but he is doing just great now. He left me a couple of days ago and his place was promptly taken by Annabel. She goes to see the surgeon on Monday for assessment. I hate to say that poor Corky is coming too as his legs are now starting to look funny - lets hope it is just me being paranoid.
Poor little Bramley. too weak to stand
Bramley eight days later and just before he left for his foster home
What a wee smasher, but how the hell can people do that? I can't begin to imagine what he's gone through, and look at him now I could just hug him to bits!!!give him a big hug from me the next time you see him.Love his name.
Poor little guy, the mind boggles how people can let animals get in such a state. The difference in just over a week is outstanding, well done you keep up the good work with all your pooches. Pass on a hug to Bramley he deserves it along with any other pooch in need of a huggle :)
Valerie I can't believe the difference in him in eight days, that poor lad, it's great to see his ears perked up in the other photo's and the look of fear seems to have left him as well. Please give him big hugs from us. Best wishes for Annabel on Monday and lets hope all is well with wee Corky.

ROLL ON MARCH
People's cruelty, whether deliberate or through ignorance, never fails to astound, upset and annoy me. Thank God for people like yourself who are prepared to step in and do what you can! Hopefully the wee mite won't have any lasting problems from this barbaric treatment.
Good luck with Annabel and Corky (I've been following their story with interest). Fingers crossed!
Valerie I believe God sent you to this earth to provide miracles for dogs. I cannot believe the difference in Bramley in only eight days. AMAZING!!!! My heart just breaks when I see what pain and hurt other humans can cause to animals, then there are people like yourself that do everything you can to change things. God bless you and the work you do. Nora

I'm so glad you posted the "after" photos - the difference is amazing. You deserve a medal for the work you do. Hope he continues to thrive in his foster home and that all goes well for Annabel and Corky at the vets.

How absolutely heartbreaking, how anyone can see a dog in this kind of distress and do nothing is beyond me, thank goodness the vet called you Valerie. Marie
Every time I see a posting from you Valerie, I breath deep and have to be brave to look because I know there will be a picture that will reduce me to tears. The way the spanish treat their dogs is incomprehensible and renders me speechless.
But what wonderful after pics of the beautiful Bramley just 9 days later, what a real fighter he is. He looks so happy now. Dogs, they never hold a grudge, they truely are quite wonderful creatures!
I deliberately did not post Bramley on here until I had some nicer photos to go with it. I don't want everybody to be put off opening up my postings because of the frequent horror stories. The only thing I can really say on the subject is that there is nearly always a happy ending and that is what is so rewarding and keeps us all motivated. There is also good news for Fabio, an emaciated greyhound who again I didn't post because the photos are sickening, in that he too has recovered well and already has a home waiting for him in Holland.
Wow. What a difference. It's great to see the after photos, after you have taken the time and care to address a dog's needs. If only there weren't so many ignorant people out there and instead there were more like you.
