Polly is actually related to the late Oscar and when Joan, Oscar's owner was offered her she could not say no. She will be joined in a couple of weeks by the rescue dog Joan was already considering - the newly-named Lady B, a four-year-old Chihuahua, who was seized in a police raid on a drug dealer's house in Edinburgh and will be released into Joan's custody when she has been chipped and dressed - I'm guessing she is going to have 'issues', she certainly won't be dull, and is unlikely to meet Mason anytime soon
At the risk of getting into trouble, I can't help but rant with you guys. Poor Polly had a wee accident a fortnight ago in the office and a member of another department complained about how it might be a health issue cos she has poor health (mainly cos every time she's given antibiotics she ignore the docs advice of not drinking, but hey ho). Anyway the upshot is that Polly is banned from the office, so we've lost our office dog to bureaucracy gone mad. There was no investigation, or anything, just an edit from on high saying she could not come in any more. I have to say Thursday was like a morgue, everyone was depressed cos she wasn't there. Joan took it well but I am so fed up with red tape superceding common sense.....grrrr Marie
No wonder your p****d off Marie, our company policy is that NO DOGS can be permited in to any part of the building or vehicles that can be accessed by any member of the staff or clients.(Health and safety) It's just stupid, we had a client with a daughter with special needs, when she came to see us she was very distressed and her daughter was picking up on these feelings without knowing why. On her second visit the arranger had her dog (wee thing) in the office and the daughter was happy to sit and pet the dog, the tension was gone and everyone felt the benefit. I know it would only take one member of staff to complain for us all to have to stick to the rules, so far all staff like dogs and so wouldn't dream of telling headoffice about the odd wee visit from staff pets.
There's always one isn't there spoil it for everyone else. More likely to catch something from an unwashed glass in a pub, than a bit dog pee
I had hoped that when Blair and I adopted a dog that I would be able to take it to work as I have a large office to myself, and as I work in the basement of the building, I don't have many visitors :(
I had enquired about taking a dog to work around the end of Nov ... didn't get an early reply ... well didn't get one at all really!
We decided to go ahead anyway and we adopted Amelie about a month ago. I've been asking on a fairly frequent basis if any decision has been made ... but the only reply that I've had in all this time is that they have to see if the company has any policy regarding this!!
We are currently using the services of a dog walker during the day, which is great, but I would love to be able to take her to work with me.
It would be company for me during the day and I would also enjoy the extra exercise in the park at lunchtime.
I won't hold my breath though for an early reply to my request ...
It is ridiculous that one person can ruin it for others. Surely the benefits overtake any negatives? There's one in every place of work who whinges but it is stupid that they get to win. I understand how angry you are right now Marie - I'd try to ruin said office worker's day on a daily basis from now on (not that I believe in revenge...)!

Don't worry, we're a vindictive lot in my office...its war
Steven doesn't have a say in the matter, with his O.C.D. we just need to threaten to leave items on his desk in a random mess and he comes out in a cold sweat.
